Thousand points of light. Anyone ever deal with LED reflector issue on an LG TV?

I've been at our cottage for the past couple months and came home last night since my wife has to go back to in person teaching. I fire up my TV (LG70LB7100) and I'm greeted to the picture below. A bit of Googling and then You Tube has led me to believe the LED light reflectors have come unglued and need to be glued back into place.

Has anyone dealt with this before and done the fix on their own? It doesn't appear to be that technically difficult but the couple of videos I watched were using a 42" TV vs. the 70" one I've got. It looks like the biggest pain in the ass is dealing with all the screws to get to the problem area, not the actual fix.

I've never heard of this before and probably watched the same videos. Not too difficult but very delicate work. Plus all those screws. A pretty big hassle and all they to do was use better glue.

I too just watched these videos. Man as someone who was in the display business for a long time, shit like this sucks. We had one product that the adhesive would actually begin to phase separate under heat and humidity. Best of luck if you try to repair this, the outer ribbon cables are pretty susceptible to damage as are the panels themselves. :(

I figure I'll give it a shot but I'm already looking at what I'll replace it with. I just have to time it right so if I completely screw it up I'm not without a TV the first week of the NFL or something.

I have taken apart an LG TV to replace LED strips. The screws are a PITA. Some may be different lengths so make sure you keep track of where they go back. You do need to be careful of the plastic diffusers that are on top of the leds. The pop off very easily and then need to be glued back in place without damaging the LED. It's definitely worth a shot to try to fix, but you're right to be already looking at replacing.

By my count looking at the screen I've got somewhere between 15 and 20 of those diffusers to glue back on. I won't be tackling it until I have a weekend at home to devote to it.
