Trenni and Tomase had their last show today. I guess they wanted to eliminate another show with reasoned takes.

I believe Marc fucking James is taking over.

I’d never heard of Dave Brown but he had a great takedown of Chris Gasper yesterday.

So you’re the one. Those two are a special kind of self absorbed nitwit. That being said, what WEEI backfills with is probably going to be worse.

Greg Dickerson walked off his Saturday WEEI show today. I flipped over during a Bruins break and didn’t recognize the host but said Greg was bothered by something he said with regards to addiction and left.

It’s WEEI so I just assume it’s some bullshit work, but I had sorta thought Dickerson would be a bit above such nonsense. Did anyone hear the original discussion?

Leaving in a bit to the studio :)
This is really something -- Joe and Evan v. Manish Mehta.
I'm not sure if it was performance art, or if my brain should be hurting because they were serious. Joe and Evan were discussing the lone reported offer to Machado:

1) one mentioned the lone offer is $175M/7, and the other one asked "so what's that, like $10M a year.....?". "No, it's $25M a years." 30-60 seconds of Machado talk, and Mr. $10M A Year confirms (as if he figured it out on his phone or with pencil and paper): "Yeah, that's $25M a year."

2) they then went on for a while on how all of MLB save the White Sox are fools for not making a bigger offer, because Machado is only 26 y/o, he's proven himself yada yada yada. No mention at all that maybe, just maybe, there's a reason that there are no other offers, let alone no other bigger offers, out there.

3) NY teams should go after Machado (long term) as that's just a bit more than MFY are paying Ellsbury, as if the Ellsbury contract worked out well for all involved.

There was more, but I had to get out of the car at that point.......

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but Jeff Sullivan is leaving Fangraphs and the Effectively Wild podcast to work for the Rays. The podcast will continue with a new co-host to be announced shortly.

It's great for these guys, but on a selfish level it sucks that all the fun analytics people in baseball who are good on podcasts keep getting hired by teams.

I can see why David would see this as "insensitive": by saying the white Sox are going, Buckley is inferring the white guys all agree with the president while on the other side of the coin all people of color are protesting the president. There is room for nuance and individuals can have their own reasons for attending or not attending.

I took it as an observation about the contingent who are choosing to go to the White House and those who are not. I don't see it as insensitive, unless he's made other comments about it Buckley isn't making any judgments about the players in either contingent, only noting that it seems to be divided along racial lines. I'm no sure I understand why Price would be offended by the observation.

Random thoughts...

Joe Murray- Dumb as rocks. He's missed on his Danny Ainge criticism about not creating "Fireworks" by trading all the Brooklyn picks for various flavor of the month names and keeps doubling down. Dumb Hot takes guy

Matt McCarthy- Forget Felger, he's an Adam Jones wannabe. He's not even good at that.

Johnston and Flynn- I admit I like these guys, perfect for the weekend. We're the same age so i get the cheesy movie and music references. Seems like guys you just met at a cookout and it wouldn't be painful. Can't be weekday guys

Christian Arcand - High Hopes but doesn't challenge Jones

Ted Johnson- Also had high hopes as well since he's experienced. from his time in Houston. Like his football analysis but kinda boring on anything else , odd pairing with Marshalll Hook

Ty Anderson - I like him, WEEI didn't use him.98.5 is smart and has him talk bruins for a few minutes on both morning and afternoon drive.. Should be a regular on Hockey show on the weekends which is a good and much needed show. WEEI once again is late trying to get into hockey.

Wiggy - He's a novelty act, Felger and Mazz had him on 1 or 2 hours a week and that's his ceiling. WEEI is desperate for answers.

Marrc James, and the other nameless WEEI weekend guys - All clearly trying to make a name by outdoing each other using hot takes, all failing badly. There's a reason they're 14th in weekend ratings.

Adam Hart - The BJBSJ guys hate him (They seem to hate everyone except Minihane). I thought he bombed at this first try but got better in a small sample size since.Maybe I'm wrong.I'll keep an open mind.

WEEI doesn't value any hosts with any natural charisma or intelligence to think on the spot. They have fake hot take guys reading a script about bland company approved subjects that no one cares about.

What's worse for WEEI? Their failing ratings, or the fact that former loyal listeners now root for their demise as a station?

I don't know much about the other guys but if we are going to be judgmental on Arcand its time to go all in. "High" hopes indeed...the guy is just slightly better than a SoSH poster (which admittedly is orders of magnitude better than me).

Unless it's in the print edition and not in the online edition, Julian Benbow proved today why he's a second stringer: the biggest play in yesterday's game was Holt being thrown out at home on a very, very, very questionable decision to try and score (either by him, the coach at third, or both of them). No mention of it whatsoever save for saying Holt got hurt running the bases.

Did Holt run through a stop sign again?
