They really shouldn’t allow anyone, even the opposition, to wear 45 in Fenway

I was out picking up my daughter, missed a few innings, any explanation or reason given for the quick hook on Sale? Seemed way too early.
Don’t know if they addressed it on TV, but here in the park, I noticed the Sox had someone starting their warm up routine (bands, etc) in the 4th, so I wonder if it was planned.

.900 ops in august. The JD hate is ridiculous and so misdirected. It’s crazy.
Driven by 3 games (the 2 blowouts and a 4-for-5 in a loss against the Jays).

In the other 11 games this month (not including tonight), he's slashing .171/.209./.317 for a .526 OPS.

All this shit is small sample size at this level of analysis of course, but he's been a real big part of this collapse, and given the quality of a lot of his AB's lately, a very conspicuous part, highlighted by his .200/.200/.200/.400 line in the 3-game MFY series.

And I don't think anyone "hates" him. I could be wrong. We wouldn't have been in 1st place all season if it wasn't for his April/May/June.

It’s at bats like that that fuels the JD hate. No one in baseball has such great numbers and can look so clueless in random at bats. Weird.
Can’t argue with that. That was ugly.

I still don’t fully understand why he’s the object of so much hate/blame during a complete team collapse.

Thanks for the insight. Still seems a bit strange to me.

Kimbrel is pitching to Tampa, they just took him out with 2 outs and man on third.
An the White Sox just blew it.
The only explanation for Tampa is somebody sold their soul. Someone should check the floor in their front office for a pentagram.

I have a hard time blaming any of Bogaerts, Martinez, or Devers for their relative slumps when they’ve generally carried the offense all year. Sometimes the approach is difficult to watch but other guys on the team gotta step up once in awhile too. I imagine he’s been pressing a bit. Guessing he will opt out so this could be the last few months of him here, but he’s been pretty darn good.

That trade has been an absolute disaster. Kimbrel has always been a traditional 9th inning closer, does this surprise anyone?

If there truly is a baseball God, I'm asking him nicely now to please not have to make me route for the Dodgers in the World Series again, once is all a person should ever have to endure.

That goes way back when he was trying to be a cross between Woody Guthrie and Dave Van Ronk. Fortunately, he went beyond that and just started being himself, even in that person seemed to change every decade. I'm a big Dylan fan.

Might be as simple as being the best player on the team who didn’t come up as a Red Sox. We aren’t as attached to JD as we are Devers or Bogaerts; he’s seen as a hired gun and easier to blame?

If the Yankees could have conned the Cubs into trading him for more of their overrated hot garbage in their minor league system, once he put on pinstripes, he'd be the greatest non traditional 9th inning closer in the history of MLB.

The only thing that can make me root for the (LA) Dodgers is for their opponent to be the Yankees. It's only OK to root for Yankees if they are playing the Confederate National Team.

There may be other factors as well, but those are not appropriate to bring up outside of one specific forum on SoSH.

Jedi mind trick. Read the game thread before checking the score and you might think that Texas had the 6. Pleasantly surprised to see that Sox do.

Blue Jays down to 63-57. Too early to write them off but they continue to not be a true factor in the race yet.

I was just going to say, it’s absurd a team with that lineup is doing so poorly. They have a pretty good rotation too…bullpen stinks, but still? Seems like about time for them to bring Cito Gaston back or something.

have any managers even been fired this year?
