This team doesn’t deserve a game thread

Very cheap tickets for today and tomorrow on Stubhub, for a weekend in August for dry days. Weird when you compare to Sunday.

Amazing that a month ago I felt confident that the team had a legit shot at a deep postseason run

Miami (oh, Miami!)
Much like the Orioles, this is another series they need to sweep.

I find myself with a largely clinical interest in seeing what happens at this point, much like that of 2020.

Shitty baseball is still better than no baseball.

That said, the lineup may indicate:
1) Cora thinks Dalbec is a good bet to hit righties.
2) Cora thinks Dalbec is a better 1B than Shaw (who has a career split in favor of RHP).
3) Schwarber isn't ready to get a field start at 1b v. RHH (who also has a career split favoring RHP).
4) JD is a better bet than Schwarber in Fenway's LF.
5) Verdugo in RF is better than Renfroe in RF. . .which is sort of a push, and only indicates that Cora thinks Schwarber in the lineup ought to displace Renfroe.

Also, Vaz is a good catcher for the recovering ace in a must win game. (Or maybe this is like stealing a start - put Vaz in when the game is less likely to hinge on catcher offense.) Which'd mean the plan is for Sale to go deep. So look for the early pull.

@PeteAbe
·Cora suggested earlier this week that Schwarber could play the field today. But now it seems to be Sunday at the earliest.

We had game threads for every game in last year's horrendous season, might as well have them for the rest of this year too.

Someone needs to help me understand the extreme OF shift against RHH it seems to hurt every time.

There should be a scale registering epic futility ... and the Twins against the Yankees should be the baseline
