I'm looking for a thin/light PC laptop to travel/work with (not an Apple).  Doesn't need to be amazing high performance, mainly will be remote accessing work systems through Internet Explorer.  I've seen some Lenovos that rotate into tablets with touchscreens, which seems kind of cool, but certainly not necessary.  Looking to buy something in the next few days.  Thanks.

I have a Lenovo Yoga - it's awesome in basically every way. I opted for a ThinkPad/enterprise model, so it's a bit heavier for how small it is, but it isn't uncomfortable to carry or use in any form, and is a total tank. I'd highly recommend it.

I also have the Lenovo Yoga (2 Pro), I use the tablet mode occasionally (less with Win. 10, used it more with 8.1) and stand mode can be nice for some things. I think it is a nice balance of performance, price and a pretty solid keyboard.
I know someone with a Carbon X1 and they love it as well, and the price has really come down on those, though you need to try it in person, the keyboard has some flex which some people don't like.
Overall, I'm a big Lenovo fan, good keyboards, and I've had good luck with them in terms of reliability.

I recommended this for my parents and they've had it for quite a while now.
They really like it and so do I.
I'd recommend one.

The biggest thing with the X1 when I had it was the trackpad.  The click feature was super sensitive when I even had my hands resting on the computer but away from the actual trackpad.  I got used to it after a couple weeks and loved it.  It was a work computer so it probably wouldn't be my first choice but it did make me a full on advocate of Lenovo notebooks.

I got my girlfriend a X1 Carbon, and it's awesome. I'm big on Macbooks, but the X1, to me, is better than the Air, and even the 13-inch Pro, at that price range. It's incredibly well-built, managing to be really sturdy and light.

Another option that came out this year is the new Dell XPS 13, that's been getting great reviews. It also starts at a lower price point ($799).

I have a slightly larger/cheaper than the XPS13 Dell as my standard work laptop.  I think it weighs 3.1lbs (rather than 2.6-2.8 for the XPS 13).  It's pretty sturdy, nice 1920x1200 screen.   I have seen the 2014 (?) XPS and it's excellent.  So, if that works for you price-wise, it'd be high on my list.  It's basically a non-Apple MacBook Air clone (though a tiny bit heavier than that, and probably 1 tick less nice).

its good.  feels more like typing at a desktop than i would have expected - i dont feel like my hands are mashed together like typing on some small removable tablet keyboard.  it's thin, light, etc.  seems to fit the bill of what i was looking for.

I'm late as well. Yoga series was the best purchase I ever made for a computer.

If you have a solid-state drive, it is actually fairly powerful for such a small machine.

I also recommend getting a logitech wireless USB and hooking it to a mouse/keyboard. When at a desk, you can use the Yoga in stand mode and just have a regular mouse and keyboard. Shouldn't cost more than 40 bucks.

Haven't tried dell XPS 13, but our lab purchased about 4-5 dell XPS 12 laptop/tablet hybrids. All of them were complete lemons and, despite our warranty, dell refused to replace them.
The XPS 13 looks different, but I'd check comment reviews for long-time users (i.e. greater than a month) on the XPS 13 before purchasing them.
