Only 4 colleges have graduated a Super Bowl-winning quarterback and a US President. That won’t change this year, even if Hoyer or Sean Mannion get into the game.

EDIT: It also won’t change if Donald Trump is impeached and Mike Pence becomes President. No, Antwaan Randle-El was not the quarterback in SB XL.

I have never met anybody who got all four answers without excessive hints or cheating.
MICHIGAN (TB12 and Gerald Ford), US NAVAL ACADEMY (Roger Staubach and Jimmy Carter), STANFORD (John Elway/Jim Plunkett and Herbert Hoover, and MIAMI/OHIO (Ben Roethlisberger and Benjamin Harrison)

I imagine the modal number of correct responses is 2, since that's what I got.
One is easy, the second isn’t easy but if you’re at least 40 you should eventually get it, the third is very challenging, and the fourth is impossible unless I guess you went to that college yourself.

Yea I got the easy one, got the college and one of the players of the second, and had nothing for the other two. So probably the same as most fans as Phil points out.

Too bad Ryan Fitzpatrick has never come close to putting the fear of god into you. Missed the playoffs in 2015 with the Jets at 10-6, losing record every other year.

I knew Stanford cause I grew up 5 minutes from campus. Guessed a service academy school, but did not know which one or who. So, 1.5/4 ?

Got them all, even without the above spoiler. I knew the most obscure one already for some reason and the other 3 were just thinking back to SB winning QBs.

Amazingly enough I got three of your four, though I admit the Antwaan Randle-El comment helped put Miami of Ohio over the top (I was trying to come up with an Ohio school given Ohio's famous "birthplace of presidents" moniker).

I thought about Staubach but couldn't think of any President who had come from Navy much less any other Service Academy.

That's a great question

1 and 3. I didn’t realize we had a president who went to the school in #2 or #4. Need to brush up on my presidents apparently.

Edit I missed the hint because I’m an idiot/distracted cooking for hungry teenagers. In hindsight I would have guessed #4’s school but absolutely not have known the President from that school.

I got all 4, easily.
Because you posted this question last year or the year before, when I got 1/4 and learned the other answers.

One that I heard this week (and is still valid after yesterday). Which college currently has the longest active streak of having at least one player on the roster of a team that made the Super Bowl?

What quarterbacks could realistically add an answer to this question? Obviously Fitzpatrick is the first one we all think of, but the thread topic implies that another possibility was eliminated last week. Brees has already won the Super Bowl and no president can claim Mahomes’ Texas Tech as an alma mater. Looking at backups, Henne also went to Michigan and no president has come from Bridgewater’s Louisville.

My favorite sports trivia question used to be

"Only 2 players in MLB history have hit a HR in their teens and in their 40s"

Except now it is 4 players.

Ty Cobb, Rusty Staub, Gary Sheffield, Alex Rodriguez
I was shocked that my first guess
Ken Griffey Jr.
didn’t make it; first homer at 19, but couldn’t get one in his final season at 40.

Presidential options that seem plausible (D-1 football program):
North Carolina - James K Polk
Army - Grant, Eisenhower
Texas State (FBS since 2012!) - LBJ
Georgetown (FCS) - Bill Clinton
William & Mary (now FCS) - Jefferson, John Tyler
Duke - Nixon (JD)
H.M.: Georgia Tech - Jimmy Carter transferred out

I'd put Columbia there for Obama (and various other politicians), but HAHAHAHA no. Last player to even make the NFL from there was Marcellus Wiley '97, nevermind a QB who could get drafted, nevermind win the SB.

SB-winning NFL QBs with alma maters of note:
Brees - Purdue
Rodgers - Cal
Flacco - Delaware
Wilson - Wisconsin
Foles - Arizona
Namath, Starr, Stabler - Alabama
Aikman - UCLA
P. Manning - Tennessee
Brad Johnson - Florida State

Notable politicians' alma maters if they're a D-1 football school, other than ivy league schools and schools already part of the answer:
Sen. Kamala Harris - Howard (BS; FCS school)
Sen. Joe Biden - Delaware (BS)
Sen. Sherrod Brown - Ohio State (MA, MPA)
Gov. Jay Inslee - U Washington (BA)
Mark Cuban - U Indiana (BS)

Not a ton in the bullpen there to expand the list.

edit: thanks Sumner

Michael Bloomberg - Johns Hopkins (BS)
Johns Hopkins is Division III in football (they play in the Centennial Conference with schools like Swarthmore, Haverford, Bryn Mawr, and Dickinson).

Lacrosse is their only Division I sport.

I got all four but I'm pretty sure it was only because I remembered this thread from last year. No way I would have guessed the last one.

So with some help of my son, let's spin this to a slightly different question:

Name a coach and president combination that graduated from the same college in the Superbowl era. As far as we can tell there is only two and for the worlds biggest hint - one overlaps with the previous question making it a trifecta of sorts (SuperBowl winning Coach / Superbowl winning QB / President) all graduated from the same school.

William and Mary (Tomlin & Thomas Jefferson/John Tyler) & Miami of Ohio with the trifecta (Harbaugh & Benjamin Harrison and QB is obviously Roethlisberger).

Interesting note 1: Paul Brown also graduated Miami of Ohio but won his championship before the Super Bowl era.
Interesting note 2: Vince Lombardi graduated from Fordham who also had a young DonaldTrump enrolled but he transferred to Penn)

When Belichick gets elected President you can add Wesleyan to the list...

Romney came close (sort of) to getting Steve Young and Jim McMahon into another trifecta (I was going to say threesome but it would be just too weird...)

Don't forget:
Kirsten Gillibrand from UCLA (Law), to match Aikman

Looks like
North Carolina - James K Polk

May be the favorite to be next if anyone in the near future, due to Trubisky, although he would probably still need to graduate.

that's a good point - so many current QBs simply aren't graduating their colleges but are getting drafted after junior year. At some point that plank of the question will either need to be modified or will become a gotcha.
