A wonderful combo if there ever was one. I take pride in that! Don't forget attractive psychotic women.
How could I forget? I'm married to one!

My brother in law is visiting and he brought about 5 kilos of dulce de leche. I think I've had something with dulce de leche for dessert 14 days in a row now...

Group G - Kind of a snooze IMO, because Belgium and England have so much more talent than Panama and Tunisia. I think Martinez is a much better manager than Wilmots and this is the best opportunity to cash in on the Golden Generation. The front 3 of Lukaku-Hazard-KDB should be lethal, and there's just international class oozing out of every other position on this squad - Alderwield, Vertonghen, Vermaelen, Fellaini, Carrasco, Benteke, Batshuayi, Nainggolan, Januzaj, Moose Dembele, Meunier, etc.
Shows how much talent there is that you left out Dries Mertens, who has been spectacular for Napoli.

There has been some issue with Martinez (who is indeed light years ahead of Wilmots), so I'm curious to see what they do. The players want him to take the reins off (of course).
I'll talk more about this when we start team specific threads in the summer, but I'd love to see caution thrown to the wind and see a set up of:

Courtois
Alderwiereld-Vertonghen-Vermaelen
Meunier------------------------------Carrasco
Witsel-Nainggolan
De Bruyne
Hazard-Lukaku

The squad then has Mertens/Mirallas/Batshuyai/Benteke up front, and both Mirallas and Mertens can play a wing. Fellaini/Dembele/Chadli/Defour as midfielders, and Lukaku/Kompany/Some Young Guy will hopefully step up on D.

They're looking at a decent matchup in the round of 16 as well, so I think you're bang on about this being their best chance to win a major tournament. I worry their D will be too old by the 2020 Euros, but their attack will still be deadly.

B: Portugal (4), Spain (3), Iran (21), Morocco (44)

Geographically, this has to be one of the closest groups ever pulled in the 32-team era. Lends a layer of cultural intrigue, too.

I'll see where my emotions take me when the games actually start, but I have a nagging feeling that I'm going to be a bad US fan and wind up rooting for Mexico.

I haven't harbored a deep dislike for El Tri since the days when the team was filled with dirty, dirty players like Oswaldo Sanchez and Rafa Marquez (well, he's stuck around for far too long). But frankly, there's really nothing dislikable about the current group; from a USMNT perspective I just can't get worked up about Chicharito or Andres Guardado or Miguel Layun or Hirving Lozano.

I want to see CONCACAF do well, so I'd like to see Mexico and Costa Rica make it out of the groups and for Blas Perez to make Panama's team and annoy the ever-loving shit out of Group G.

Chicharito is the Brad Marchand of soccer. To hell with him. I'd rather root for Panama against england, or for CRC.

If you're ranking "fun underdogs to root for", Mexico is a long way from the top of the list, which starts with Iceland and Peru.

I'm not saying I'm happy about this. I just have a feeling it's going to happen anyway.

I might be caught rooting for Mexico against Germany, just because of what a goliath they are. Sweden or South Korea? Nope.

If I were head of FIFA, I would scrap the draw and instead have a draft. The 8 seeded teams would hold a draft of the other 24 qualifiers to create the groups.

Peru captain and record scorer Paolo Guerrero has tested positive for cocaine and will serve a 12-month ban, which will see him miss the World Cup.

Why the hell would cocaine merit a 12-month ban? As a wise man once said: Anything that makes you paranoid and impotent, give me more of that!

And his excuse is that it was a tea made with Coca leaves, given to him by the Peru national team nutritian.

Flamengo, his club team, is pissed and threatening to sue the Peruvian team and trying to rescind his contract.

12 months is a mild suspension. The normal penalty for the kind of stimulants that cocaine falls under is 4 years, reduced to 2 if proven it was not taken to enhance performance.
