So I finally got some time to fix a bunch of stuff on the wiki.  As a test I could definitely use a hand updating the 2013 Red Sox.  Use this thread as a place to ask questions.  We were all over the wiki a few years back but mostly due to me moving it around and creating weird restrictions after incessant spammer storms it fell out of use.

Most importantly please test new user signups and editing the wiki.  I put some workarounds in place there that I hope work.

So it brought over all your usernames. The password is probably what your password was here a few years ago. I'd also be interested to see if resetting it works

I was able to get automatically logged in on the Wiki last week just by clicking over from the link under the SoSH banner. That no longer happens using the link above. Tried logging in manually, but it won't recognize my handle or password.
 
When I clicked the "Forgotten your log-in details?" button, it brought me to a screen that asked for my email address. But when I entered it and clicked the "Email new password" button, I got the following message:

I also tried to create a new account using my SoSH handle and, predictably, it tells me the account name is already in use.
 
No idea why it's not recognizing my password. I haven't changed it since joining the site in '03.

I'm not surprised passwords are fucked... it used to be integrated with the forum (it's not anymore) so I'm sure that things have changed.

Clicking the link at the top of this thread doesn't log me in. And I still can't log in manually. I've even tried four combinations of my handle and password, capitalizing the first letter of each or both, just in case that was part of the problem. As I suspected, it didn't matter.
 
Still can't create a new account with the same handle either.
 
Also, the IP address shown at top left of the Wiki page doesn't appear to be mine.

I think I found the best way to block folks.  We'll see how it works.
 
Your old account is definitely still there and the password reset emails are not going out.  I need to troubleshoot why.  Some people have theor old passwords active, some don't.  I can't tell why but it can be anything.  I removed it from invision rather forcibly a few years back when there was a few problems with the plugin and exploits, and I could have just fucked something up.
 
Nothing that can't be fixed though.

OK so I need some volunteers.  In order to edit the wiki you need to be part of the group "trusted".  I need a few good men or girls who can approve folks by adding them to this group on request.  
 
This is the simplest alternate to having tons and tons of spam in there.

yeah that was me.  I need to do two things to fix it... but it should be unblocked in a few more hours.
 
The issue is that I'm testing a proxy in front of the site (that sosh will eventually use) and it's reporting the ip address of the proxy to the site rather than the real ip address.  I know the fix, i just need to put in the leg work of making sure that it's being done the right way,

spammers are brutal there huh.  I mostly have it locked down so they can just create new usernames, but with some stuff I threw in yesterday I think it's a bit more secure.  The more help that we can get archiving this playoff run there the better.  It's been a freaking awesome playoff run.

You should be all set.  Of note it's case-sensistive.  I also made you an admin so for you and other admins

type the user name in and add them to the group "trusted"
 
It's basically the only reliable way to avoid spam floods.

I've sort of made it my mission to fill in the gap from 2011 to 2012 in the team history pages.  I'm all over the place in my edits but hopefully will connect all the 2013 playoff stuff that Nip to the 2013 page, etc.
