In one hand, the idea of being a seller and being done for the season really sucks. In the other hand is Reese McGuire.

Why?
I have no idea what Bloom is doing at this deadline. He traded a solid catcher and character guy for prospects. Then he goes out and gets the opposite of that. I hope there's a better long term plan that's yet to be revealed.
You may not agree with the deals but you can at least see what Bloom is doing--if the Sox aren't competing this season, they get some lottery tix for Vazquez who they can resign in the offseason. In this deal the prize isn't Reese, it's moving off Diekman's contract.

And if they are competing they potentially just made several helpful upgrades at spots of need. Depends what else they do in the next day.

I guess that makes sense even if I don't like it (the lottery tickets for Vazquez part).

I'd rather they just pick a minor leaguer at random. I mean, glad Diekmann is gone, and Reese is a Jackoff of all trades, but why do we have Hernandez on the 40 then?

Because he was called up earlier when Vazquez and Plawecki were sick

I honestly don’t even care about the basket of meh that has returned this far. The last page of this thread has made it worth it. I understand that makes me a bad poster and I’m okay with that.

Guys, this is my favorite trade since Pedro. Oh, the joy it’s brought me already. McGuire could come up empty handed his whole time in Boston and he’d still finish first in my mind.

Pretty sure he’ll have something in his hand. Unsure when he will finish though.

I wonder if Sox pitchers will miss the familiarity of Vazquez. Though some people prefer the stranger.

I am excited though for our new backstop-playing-with-yourself!

They got rid of a catcher who was a stroking Vaz and replaced him with catcher who's stroking vas.

Two catchers diverged in their use of wood, and Bloom
Bloom took the one less traveled by
And he hopes that will make all the deferens

I do feel a little bad for the guy. I think we're being too hard-on him.

Though perhaps it's best to let it all hang out there.

But as long as he's good at swinging the wood then we should zip it.
