I don't think Cyborg could get down to 135. Tito said on a podcast that she walks around close to 160, and has had tough weight cuts in the past. She's also had conflicts with the UFC when they took over Strikeforce because they weren't going to have a 145 division. 145 is probably the least deep division amongst the women's divisions. UFC just added 115, which is telling because even the lower divisions have more appeal than 145.

RT @shaunalshatti: Anderson Silva asked doctors in pre-op: "When can I train?"

UFC ‏@ufc3m
Not even 48 hours after surgery, Anderson has asked multiple times when he can train. You have to love this heart & dedication to the sport.

I think he's gonna be back. I'm just not sure he'll ever get a third shot at Weidman.

How do you guys feel about Weidman? He's got the job done but it hasn't looked impressive or flashy. I think he's probably the weakest champion pound-for-pound. Great wrestler though.

If it's going to happen she'll have to lose weight, not just cut it. But at least it's a 10 pound difference instead of 15. Also White still hates Oritz. It's a long shot, but it's also the elephant in the room if Rousey keeps mowing everyone down.

This is why I was pulling for Tate. She'd be a star and fan favorite, and Rousey - Tate 3 would have been even more intense than 2.

Yeah, it's definitely a longshot, but interest would obviously skyrocket. Cyborg is two inches taller and seriously more muscular than Rousey, so to get down to 135 she'd have to be skinnier than Rousey and lose a bit of muscle. It would be an awesome fight. A 140 catchweight would be more feasible physically but less likely to be agreed upon.

A fight would benefit Cyborg more; Rousey doesn't really need it because 135 has more competition, Tate, Cingano, McCann, Kaufmann. There's no one at 145; half the top ten have fewer than 5 fights, and some of the others (Coenen) jumped from 135. That division needs a couple more years to develop

What's the fighting community consensus regarding the knee check of a low kick? It's legal, no doubt about it, but is it as dirty a move as a push kick to knee, that also happens to be legal but usually regarded as dirty and frowned upon?

Dom Cruz tears his groin and pulls out of UFC 169 and vacates his title. Uriah Faber on short notice will take his place vs Renan Baroa at 169.

Gotta feel for Cruz.

I've never heard anything to that effect. Seems sort of tough to tell the guy that he's got to just take it when someone else swings his shin at him hard enough to break it. It sucks but it's a bit of a warning that the kicker has to protect himself and can't just launch with impunity.

In other news, no link because I'm on my phone, but Leben is apparently hanging them up. He looked really bad last time out, so I think this is a good thing.

I think it's pretty difficult to intentionally catch it with your knee. These kicks are coming in fast.

I gave Thomson 1and5. It was basically any Henderson fight against anyone but Pettis. Bendo with great D and just enough offense. I think he's fun to watch because he does weird stuff like thigh punches and calf kicks, and his D is amazing, but it would be nice for him to finish a fight. I thought he had him with that arm/leg triangle guillotine attempt, which again isn't something you see attempted everyday. Unfortunately for Bendo you don't get marks for degree of difficulty

He's definitely entertaining.  It was really impressive how many times Thomson had him in a body triangle on the ground and Henderson would just get up with Thomson on his back like he was carrying a 5 year old.  Henderson is almost too smooth for his own good.

Scorecards were:

Sal D'Amato had the 49-46, gave Thomson round 1.

Brian Puccilo had 48-47 Henderson, gave Thomson 1 and 2.

Gabriel Babatis had 48-47 Thomson, gave Thomson 1, 4, and 5.

Not watching the PPV, but did watch the prelims and I still can't figure out how Rogan thought the Makdessi win over Patrick was such a travesty.  I figured it was 29-28 one way or the other since neither man really ended up doing much of anything and I can see giving Makdessi the fight based on his takedown defense, since that was the only thing that stood out in the whole match,

I'm glad Patrick lost since he was running his mouth about how he was going to submit Makdessi quickly and then got stuffed the entire fight.

Patrick won the fight, that's why Rogan was so incensed.

Cyborg pops in just in time to steal some headlines

I'm currently training to fight at 145 on March 28 and in early May. My team has hired a medical doctor to help me make 135. I plan to challenge and win the Invicta 135 Championship in the summer and challenge you, champion to champion, for your 135 belt in December.

Now I know critics will say "I thought you said you would die if you made 135." All I'm promising is that I will give 100 percent to try to get to 135 to make this plan happen. If I do, I will still listen to my doctor's advice and fight no more than three times at 135: first to win the Invicta belt, the second time to kick your ass and the third time to kick your ass again so that the world can see it wasn't luck. You can even have me tested every week up to the fight. That way you will not have an excuse after I kick your ass."

Sweet. That's going to be cool.

Anywho, does Ronda come away with another limb tonight?

It looked much quicker in real time than in the replay. McCann's hands were flat on the matt and were not moving. Herb just prevented her getting hit in the head some more.

Quick trigger Herb strikes again.
Which was interesting given that he let Pyle fucking WAIL on a dude who was basically unconscious for like 45 seconds more than he should've earlier in the card.

Yep. And considering this is a championship fight, I don't know, maybe the challenger should get a chance to recover from a flash blow. Let's be honest, the pitter patter of punches Ronda was throwing at the end had nothing behind them. McMann wasn't in any real danger as evident by how quickly she got up after Herb seperated them.

It's unfortunate because it seemed like Rousey wanted to trade blows but was being outclassed from the get go. It would have been interesting to see some more standup.

In the post-fight press conference Pyle said except for the first shot after he fell that he wasn't really landing anything flush until the last couple punches. I think this is more a case of Joe Rogan overreacting.

The Rousey stoppage was quick though.

I was a little surprised Rousey didn't go straight to the choke rather than throwing the punches, it would have been more efficient and McMann certainly was not defending.

I don't know about the being outclassed part, she took at least two shots, but kept coming forward and it certainly didnt appear that McMann had a strategy to get off of the cage. This is the first time Rousey didn't look noticeably stronger than her opponent.

Nevada sports commission banned TRT, which had an impact on Belfort pulling out of the fight. He says he'll adjusting his training but doesn't have time to adjust for a fight in May.

Belfort says he gets the winner of Weidman/Lyoto. He also took a drug test in three weeks ago. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/vitor-belfort-says-gets-weidman-193311725--mma.html

NSAC chairman Francisco Aguilar confirmed to MMAWeekly.com that because Belfort is not currently licensed in Nevada, and because Belfort has not provided permission, the commission does not have the necessary consent to release information regarding the drug test result.
Aguilar said that the test was administered in an attempt to facilitate its due diligence since the commission was aware that Belfort would soon be applying for a license to fight Chris Weidman in Las Vegas in May, coupled with Belfort’s history that includes his TRT use and a previous failed drug test in Nevada in 2006.
Aguilar also confirmed that the Feb. 7 random drug test was voluntary since Belfort was not licensed by Nevada at the time, and that he consented to the test.

Ban has a potential effect on other upcoming matches, including Dan Henderson's match with Shogun in late March (though it sounds like Hendo will be granted an exemption). as well as the Wanderlei Silva/Sonnen match scheduled for the end of May.

Knockout of the year so far?

Donghyun "Stun Gun" Kim just knocked out John Hathaway (17-1 coming into the match) on a perfect spinning back-elbow to the jaw. The thud sounded as terrible as I've ever heard inside the octagon.

Stun Gun has now has two spectacular finishes back-to-back, and may just get in the top 10 in the jam-packed welterweight division.

So last night..

Cowboy Cerrone is a fucking badass, I love watching that guy fight.

I am not entirely sure Meisha Tate won that fight.

I did not think anyone could make Happa Brown look so terrible.

Good to see USA Wrestling sponsor some UFC stuff.

Pretty excited about the main event, but I do find myself wanting to see Rousey.

I'm a fan of Johnson, it'll be interesting to see his approach against Davis.

Should be a pretty good fight, but Davis almost certainly pulls this out.

Alright, Davis is starting to get some confidence back. But, he's basically down two rounds.

Okay, that counter uppercut just stopped any momentum Davis had.

Welp, Johnson shoots up the rankings. Wow.
