GSP is officially taking a break and vacating his belt. Hendricks vs Lawler will be the co-main event at UFC 171.

Edit: forget that

Sorry I misspoke on the conf call. Hendricks vs Lawler will be main event in Dallas and Jones vs Teixeira will headline UFC 172

So Hendricks vs Lawler replaces Jones vs Teixeira at 171, and Jones vs Teixeira will headline UFC 172.

I somehow was able to effectively avoid UFC-related media and watch the last two events this week. All I can say about Bigfoot/Hunt is wow. That was absolutely legendary. It was fun and stressfull all at the same time. I rode the rollercoaster of emotions right along with the fighters.

Wow.

Just hope Silva fights seriously this time. The guy is one of the best but he's a fucking douche. It's infuriating trying to cheer for him.

Bitch fight time. I'd prefer Tate wins, and I think she's a good bet at +500, but I also think Ronda wins.

Ronda is just too much for Tate I'm afraid. Having Ronda as a champ is also good for the sport for now.

Ronda come out with Joan Jett's Bad Reputation. Ha, what a bitch. Love her.

Why do you say that? I'd love to see a third fight.

So is a Men's Judo world champion watching this and thinking they could do really well? Rousey's ability to defend opponent's attempts to take her down by putting them on their back is unique, Joe said it best, the timing is perfect and obviously the results of both decades of training and world class skills.

That was a fucking awesome fight, I told my little girl RR should have shook Tate's  hand, but really, fuck that, I am glad she kept the heel turn on, it will grow the sport and make her more money in the long run. It also would have seemed disingenuous after how she personalized everything on the show and in the pre-fight build up.

Well then.

Honestly, after that first round, the first thought that comes to mind is: ending his career like that might be better for his legacy than actually getting knocked out again, which looked like it was coming.

I don't know. Still processing this.

That was almost 180 degrees.  Holy shit, it sucks to see a legend of the sport go out like that.

EDIT: Looked like he was finding the range a little there before it happened.  I think he'd have retired if he won, too.

Wideman seems like a genuinely likable guy and a deserving champ.

Silva-Weidman I was the first UFC fight I watched. This one was fucking depressing on so many levels. Damn.

Edit: Agreed on the likeability of Weidman. Still, I was hoping for a more interesting fight.

So, does Weidman's leg hurt from that kick?

This is a sport where the main objective involves kicking people as hard as you can. That leg ain't doing that anymore. The man is 38 years old. Unless Kobe's German medical team has some tricks up its sleeve, I don't think he will fight again.

I'm just going by what DRS said

"Yeesh. Anderson Silva will be fine after surgery to fix his tibia fracture, but that's a tough (and graphic) way to lose a fight"
"he could be back fighting in 8-9 months if he wants to. Depends if he feels up to the rehab"

Name your charity and amount.  He's been considering retiring for a while and has had to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat a few times lately.  I can't imagine he'll be back in the UFC.

This is the saddest day in MMA history.

The greatest fighter we have ever seen doesn't go out by KO, sub, ref stoppage or going out on his shield and losing a decision... he's going out cuz his leg snapped like a twix bar on a routine leg kick. I am so bummed.

Her Judo is incredible. It looks automatic. Like breathing.

I'm just worried the only woman that had a chance with RR just lost again.

Maybe Zingano, but I don't see it. Tate is much better now than when they fought.

There's no way there wasn't already a hairline fracture before that kick, right?

Supposedly Silva's corner told Dana he had cracked his shin on a previously checked kick in that fight before he threw the one that ended the fight.
