Hendrick's wrestling is for real. He's neutralized GSP's entire game. That's got to be another round for the challenger.

So impressed that Hendricks just flips switches on GSP near the fence with just a quick hip throw.

No shit. Any time GSP has him on the wall he just flips it on him. He makes it look so easy.

This ain't boxing. I can't imagine GSP getting the benefit of the doubt.

Yea but... it's GSP. It could a case of Hendricks not winning decisively in the eyes of the judges.

So he lost memory during the fight and lost vision in one eye but he won the fight. Nice. Good job.

And Hendricks doesn't have a scratch on him.

Let Hendricks beat the 3rd man in the division for the interim belt and let them unify it in a rematch.

GSP knows he just got his ass beat.

There was talk about this being his last match no matter what. Greg Jackson wasn't in his corner. Instead GSP had one of his mentors in there.

Hey that's why you don't leave it up to the judges.  Hendricks looked like he had plenty of energy left.  Why didn't he keep pushing forward then?  He would have knocked him out.

Dunno man. I have the same taste in my mouth as when an umpire dicks around with the strikezone.

He could have ended it in the third but he came out flat.  Like he was conserving.  He's best when he's constantly pushing, getting in close and landing huge short punches, but he stopped doing that.  Sorry but it's his fault he lost the decision, even though he clearly did the most damage.

You could argue GSP won the 1st, 3rd, and 5th.

Edit: Score card

You could argue that but you would be wrong. Dana just said Hendricks won the fight.

He just called the Nevada commission atrocious and that he hopes they don't ruin this sport like they did Boxing. "I'm afraid to come back to this state and do a fight."

WOW.

But he said he won because of damage.  Which isn't how fights are decided.  No one is going to argue GSP did more damage, but GSP used his length to outscore him.  That's why I've been yelling for Hendricks to push forward all fight.

I was just going to say that.

I'm not buying the GSP retiring stuff.  People say weird shit after they get their asses kicked.  Silva said he didn't want a rematch.

And he has chew in. I love this guy. Can he play for the Sox?

Isn't that Hendricks your avatar? Might as well. Also think Ebner may be related to him somehow.

I also thought it was BS that GSP called for time off (not knowing any pre-fight retirement talk).

In addition, I call BS on "Hendricks did more damage but got outpointed" narrative. Even if you give GSP the last round, I thought he clearly won round 1 and landed more punches -- which the other two judges gave to the "champ".

Dana says he wants an immediate rematch on FS1.

GSP had a significant strikes landed advantage in 1, 3, and 5.

Josh Gross

sig. strigkes - St-Pierre landed 101 of 221. Hendricks landed 85 of 194.

By the way, a "significant strike" is defined as any strike at distance, plus power strikes in the clinch and on the ground. Since the fight was contested almost exclusively at distance, all those strikes are going to get counted as significant

Out of media people only Josh Gross and Greg Savage (Sherdog) called it for GSP. They are actually two guys I follow the most so I'm starting to re-think it.

But reality is, judges are afraid to give 7 or 8 pt rounds. There need to be more of those, or else close rounds and non-close rounds end up with the same point value. 10-9 is way too much of a default when 99% of rounds are 10-9

Since when did MMA turn into amateur boxing?

I agree with Infidel -- there has to be some sort of a 10-8 or even 10-9.5 for you know, almost knocking the other guy out.

I'd rather not see a rematch. Just make Silva-GSP next summer and let him call it a career.

GSP has no answer for Hendricks at this point in his career and a rematch will likely result the same as Cain-JDS 2. He also suffered a bad beating from Condit. Personally I'd like to see him take the time away that he needs or retire.
