It seems too late to move Horford, but I'm not sure when Theis actually plays with the current roster.

Theis is a nice fit for the roster and system, frankly. Turning Schroder and slop into a useful rotation guy is helpful, I just worry about the lean towards bigs. He's more useful than Schroder would have been

I like this move quite a bit, but aren't they, like, 4 players short now? Tacko, IT, and Joe Johnson all back on 10-day contracts?

Gotta see how it works out, but I'm good with it. I like Theis. Gives you more flexibility to trade Horford in the offseason and you know that Theis can work well in a switch everything system, don't really need the other bigs if you have Williams/Horford/Theis playing all the minutes. Nice protection against any injuries from Horford/Williams and gives you chances to do some load management down the stretch.

I haven't seen Theis really play at all this year, has there been any noticeable decline from folks that have?

Figure Hauser gets occasional time and they commit to Nesmith minutes?

I worry a lot more about the top 8-9 than end of bench so fine with consolidation deals--like both players they got and the fits.

Guessing this is a lot about next year. TL+Theis is a really good center rotation for $20M/year, and you have that locked in for 3 years.

If IME will only play 8 players, might as well just consolidate on the best 8 players you can get.

Smart can easily play wing as needed, so it's not as thing there as it looks. Still a bit thin.

Theis on the books for $8.6M next year and $9.1M the year after. Team option in year 4. A lot of future year salary commitments made today. Have to think that Brad is lining this all up for another star this summer.

The war on Theis is back.

I need the final dollar numbers on all of this stuff - Theis makes a lot of money. Do the Celtics even have room under the tax to sign buyout guys?

Also I hate that Brad is using the Doc Rivers strategy of signing all of the dudes that used to play for you. Theis is having down year. He'll be 30 next year. This may be an albatross contract for the next three seasons.

So looking at the entire deadline, Brad sent out:

Schroeder
Richardson
Romeo
Enes
Fernando
Bol Bol
Dozier
2022 1st (protected 1-4)

And got back:
Derrick White
Theis
A conditional 2nd from Orlando

Am I missing anything?

Theis on a 2/18 deal after this season. Then a team option.

Interesting to see Brad committing $ over the next few years with White/Theis, not just looking for stopgaps for a couple months.

Something tells me the Rockets were quite happy to get out of that Theis deal.

DS will get bought out right?

not sure Theis is worth the commitment. He's pretty fungible.

It'll be interesting to see what else happens because as of now, the C's are build a lot like last years team.

edit: his contract is decent for filler, anyway.

Yeah I doubt he would get that deal on the open market right now.

It's not an albatross by any means, but a little surprised Brad wanted to take it on.

So many parts.....I think I'm done reading about it and will judge the day by how it works out.

Not really sold on the bolded. Swapping out Kemba's 31 mpg of inefficient offense and league-worst defense is huge. TL is way ahead of last year. Grant as well. Al is a better fit than TT. Fewer mouths to feed, roles more clearly defined, and there is defensive buy-in (about to get better too after moving DS out).
