There's going to be a lot of awesome stuff to come out over the next couple of days, and there's also a lot of iconic stuff from the season and the playoffs I'm sure we'd all like to see and have the ability to save for days ahead.

I'll start.

This picture is awesome.

The ump calling him safe with generous, if not asked for, assistance from three Red Sox, is a stunning split second moment to capture in a photo.

It reminds you: it's a game, a child's game played by adults, and this team played with a boyish glee that I don't ever remember seeing in any other team.  Team!  Their shared love of the game, their thrill to have the privilege of playing it with like-minded teammates, made this
ball club bigger than the sum of their parts.  And this unmeasurable mojo, more than any measurable sabermetric, is what I think pushed them over the line from very good team, to champions.

This photo is going up on the wall.

"Three Little Birds"

Holy crap -- that's brilliant.  The three driven in by Vic, with their wings extended.

Edit -- well, I guess Xander wasn't driven in, but still . . . .

Apparently Ortiz openly snubbed CHB during/after his press conference? Anyone who can bring me a video/gif of that will be my hero.

I'm just glad David Ross didn't try to jump into Koji's arms and foulke up Koji's knees. Why did Varitek do that? Always struck me as odd.

Kinda weird that pitchers do it, for that matter.

I like to rip CDs with a "playlist" customized for each World Series.

I have a great one for 2004 and would like to make one for 2013.

For example "Three Little Birds", "Dirty Water", etc. would be featured, along with some of the great montages that have already been assembled.

98.5 TSH already has 3 good montages up on their site.

QUESTION: How can I download the montages off of the web-site and save them as music files to burn onto a CD?

For each one, right click on the Play button and click "Open in New Tab" or "Window".
Right click on the play/pause button and select "Save video as..." and it will let you save the clip as an MP3.

That worked for the first one.  Hopefully it works for all of them.  (And I am doing this too, thanks for the idea.)

edit:  for some reason (for me, at least) it only works for the first one you do, then it doesn't work anymore.  Refresh the first page again to let you download the second clip, and so on.

Thanks, Dollar!

I was also able to find all of them on iTunes. I just subscribed (free) to the podcasts for T&R, F&M, and G&Z and downloaded the specific montages that way. That may be an alternative for you if the technique you recommended remains problematic.

WEEI.com also has a couple that are just okay.

If I can figure out how to do for mlb.com, I actually really liked the montage up thread with the different radio/TV calls.

I know he gets a lot of stick here, but Buck's call of strike three was great. Would like to grab that.

Not really a picture or video, but interesting to hear "the other side of the story":

3. For the second consecutive season, the Cardinals became unglued with a championship on the line, and it’s confounding and frustrating. It’s inexcusable, really. There’s no justification for this.

There’s something wrong when you’re defenseless against a used-up Barry Zito (2012 NLCS) and a sore-armed Clay Buchholz (2013 World Series).

This is awesome SSF.

I need a video that lasts longer at the end, though, so I can hear the crown singing along to Dirty Water.

I don't romanticize these guys for the most part.  Professional athletes have always been a separate class, often sheltered from the rest of us.   In many cases they are the entitled products of their environment.  They can do things that few others can and they know it.

That said, its scenes like this that makes at least some of these guys easy to root for.  That's not entitlement.  Its just the child-like joy of a guy who has toiled for a long-time and in a lot of places finally arriving at the ultimate goal.

When do Gomes and Napoli show up in a wrestling ring? That's what I want to see.

I've been staring at the 'safe' picture for a good 10 minutes or so now. Fantastic.

Got to get a print of it.

Greta Van Susteren had a brief clip on the haircuts on her news show last night and called him David Ortezz. I know Sports isn't the be all and end all (except around here) but give me a break.
