Wow, I'd forgotten that Watson won five British Open championships. Spectacular.

Watson is the only person in the last 50 years to win more than three Open Championships.  He won his five on five different courses in a nine-year period.  Player, Nicklaus, Ballesteros, Faldo and Woods have won three each.  Nicklaus and Woods won two of their three at St. Andrews.  No other person in the last 100 years has won more than one at St. Andrews.

The outpouring of love and affection from the townspeople of St. Andrews to Watson was awesome. They literally ran out of bars to come cheer Watson up 18. Rinaldi's interview was great too. He's such a humble winner and a great ambassador.

DJ pays a big price for not putting last night.  terrible shot on 14, followed  by the ball rolling 10-15 feet away when he attempted to mark the ball

I don't follow this at all, but coming home at 2am and putting this on to find a major sporting event being played in a hurricane is making for amazing television.

7-8-9-11 are basically unplayable right now.   Koepka hit a 10 foot putt that maybe should have gone 1 foot long, and ended up 8 feet long.

I guess right now for these guys this AM it is a good thing they made the course easier to play this year

Bringing them back to the clubhouse now.   Players are pissed.

Cink, Curtis and Duval  warmed up, and because of the mess on the green at 11, they never hit a shot.  Great stuff

I'm pretty surprised some of these guys decided to finish out. Brenden Todd was on the cut line and played 18 after the horn. Others just made bad decisions. Oostie had an eighteen inch putt, putt his ball down and the wind blew it. Instead of marking it again, he stood a d chatted with tiger about how crazy it all is and then a full minute later when he finally went to mark, saw it blow again and is now looking at a five and a half foot putt.

Would seem like the guys who are in the lurch right now are at a pretty decently sized disadvantage, if nothing else for sheer fatigue.

Tickets for Monday are just £10.
They should be free for people who had tickets for Sunday. Probably run you another 400 pounds for a room at the Old Course Hotel for an extra night (if they're available).

I can't even imagine playing this course when it is crowded with a bunch of duffers spraying the ball all over the course and not having all the course officials out there to keep some semblance of control

Dotti Pepper apparently didn't watch the US Open, as she is talking about how for the first time some fans chuckled at Tiger's play.  The crowd was brutal towards him at Chambers Bay

Kind of a shame they only have this small stretch of play this afternoon, because the weather is absolutely perfect right now.

Come on Duval, make that cut

Ten rounds of Majors so far, all ten the leader was DJ or Speith.

That's amazing. The only difference between Spieth and DJ is DJ hits lousy putts a little too often.

Course is completely defenseless so far this am.   Duval had moved into the top ten,  but a bogie on 16 just dropped him back to -5.

Unless it changes dramatically, I suspect you are probably going to need at least -9/-10 to be in the top 10 by the end of the day

A little rain expected, but if it stays calm, a lot of holes are going be like playing on a pitch and putt course.

Duval already in the clubhouse with a 67.

MYRTLE BEACH!!!!
This is going to be a record day for scores here. Rain to us weekend golfers is a huge pain in the ass. Rain to a pro is nothing. They do this shit all the time, with a caddy, $600 rain suits, a bag of towels, and a dozen gloves. It's nothing.

We've got a 6700 yard course, what we all call the white tees, and pros on a soft course. I'll be shocked if the course record (62) is intact at the end of the day.

Should be fun.

OK, file my last post under "Captain Obvious".

This Leishman dude is already 8 under today with the 18th coming up. A birdie ties the Open record of 63.
