If Spieth goes on to win the U.S. Open, the weather this weekend will become one of the great 'what if?'s in modern golf.

It wasn't the weather, it was the pin on that hole that cock-blocked his chip shot from going in

Spieth had a shot to get up and down. Yea the tee shot was wider than he wanted, but I'd rather have the spin control from 100 than no spin control from 58. All he had to do was put it up there 15 feet past the pin and let it spin back. He landed it pin high, that was the mistake...or the biggest one anyway. If you had the shorter approach, I'd want a different angle.

He already won the US Open. And how did the surprising occurrence that the weather in Scotland can change cause Spieth's three putts?

There is no doubt he's been the best golfer in the world the last 3 months. I'm not going to say he is clearly better than Rory
At their best, I'd say slight edge to Rory. Rory can bomb it. Spieth can't. That's the only real difference.

I'd agree.  I think Spieth is CURRENTLY the best in the world, as in for the past year.  But if every golfer is on their A game, I think Rory is the best.

Well, you may as well say at their best DJ has the edge.

I'm talking about overall. I think you can expect Spieth to be close to his best much more often than Rory, who is inconsistent to say the least.

Spieth will continue to improve. He's already approaching assassin level in majors, but he could clean it up even more. The double at 17 at Chambers, the 4 putt today. Those are final round things that I think go away as he gets better.

Four-putting the 8th hole didn't help..

Yeah, that too. Of course, everyone within 3 shots probably had the same chances
