The ratings for the PGA are going to be huge if Spieth pulls this off. They've probably got snipers out for Leishman on 18.
And the galleries will be insane. The PGA is typically the poor stepchild of the majors.

MYRTLE BEACH!!!!
If these guys can hit the right fringe of 2 fairway consistently, why can't they just aim for the fairway on 17?

I don't recall that being the choice of the route on this hole in the past.

This is going to come down to watching Louie attempt birdie puts, isn't it?

Because if you have a completely safe bailout to the left, why even risk it?

This is why they're the best in the world, they don't take unnecessary risks.

Spieth says dangerous play with a wood on 17?  Nah.

Not dangerous to drive at all when you aren't even trying to put the ball in the 17th fairway.

Better angle, shorter approach. But I'm with you, I'm guessing the risk/reward is not worth it. Just don't recall that happening so much in the past.

They aren't even attempting to go at the green so it doesn't much matter where the tee shot goes.

Obviously the flag is completely inaccessible from the 2nd fairway

The left-hand rough used to be a lot thicker, plus these guys now nuke their 4-irons.
I think that's it. With the rough short, they're Ok if they are between 2 and 17, used to be that was jail.

An almost impossible up and down for Day. And he needs it or he is done.
It's not almost impossible. It's a shot that requires precision, but it's pretty straightforward.
