What does that overpay look like? 6, 47 and next year's R1 pick?
Yeah that is what I would be looking for. 6/47/70 are considered a fair trade but I'd hold out for a future 1st though Maye is almost certainly better than any QB prospects next year unless someone has a Daniels like ascension which you can't count on year over year.

Maybe Maye gives Daboll Josh Allen flashbacks and they bite. I don't want the Pats to do it, but I could see the rationale. At 6, they would still likely have OT 1 or 2, WR 2 or 3, and maybe even JJM as options. Then they could address both OT and WR in R2 (or double dip at one or the other). The NYG are also a good bet to end up in the Top 10 in the 2025 draft (as are the Pats). Would be a bold move. I like it better than the Minnesota hypos.

Bold prediction, that happens and NE ends up dealing the NYG pick for more picks including the pick that turns into the first pick in the 2026 draft.

Thought this was an interesting read. Obviously only one opinion but outside of Sanders and Beck I don't know much about any other 25/26 potential draftees. This article took the approach as if everyone was available in the 24 draft what the top 50 would look like and had Caleb/Maye 1/2 and Beck shows up as the 5th QB. Looks like there will be a lot more talent on the defensive side next year. Obviously this is way, way out but I will say people were talking very highly about Caleb and Maye last year at this time relative to the 23 QB class. Most draftniks had Caleb comfortably ahead of last years class and Maye in the mix.

I feel very strongly that the Giants will sit tight at 6 to take a WR in the hopes that MHJ/Nabers/Odunze gives Jones the sort of deep threat that unlocks his potential (a la Diggs/Allen)

I swear if tonight turns out to be an endless series of the Pats trading down, I'm going to cue up "Won't Get Fooled Again" ("meet the new boss, same as the old boss") and unleash a Daltrey-esque scream as I ram my head repeatedly into my living room wall!

Based on Belichick’s media appearance today it seems like he was a Daniels over Maye guy. QBs can be quite situation dependent and the Pats didn’t even really get a shot at Daniels anyway, but just another interesting element to think about over these guy’s careers.

All his comments about QBs were heavily college performance based, liked the guys who had production and played 5 years didn't like anyone else.

As a defensive guy he probably watches Mayes' college tape and knows he can eat him alive. But the Pats needed to take a swing on talent and I'm glad they did. Now it's over to Van Pelt, MacAdoo and company to make it work.

He also thought he could eat Josh Allen alive in 2020 and talked shit about him to the MNF crew in a production meeting just as Allen hung 38 on the Pats and had an MVP caliber season. Maybe he overvalues polish, footwork and college production and is in his "Rick Mirer will be the next Joe Montana" phase, where what he looks for in a QB isn't really what has amounted to success lately.
