Her outfits were atrocious: not playful enough and did nothing to help accentuate her best assets. Who decided to cut a black sleeping bag in half, stick a neck hole in it and throw on some sequins for her Missy duet for instance? The wordy dumpy came to mind

Wasn't that supposed to be a jersey? I think the idea was she was supposed to be wearing a boyfriends/fuck buddy's oversized jersey, which would have been fine if it were NOT just a shapeless mass of blackness on screen.

These guys beg to differ.
Yeah, there are always some legit talents in pop music. Do I need to counter with pics of 10 people who were popular for their looks and/or image? Cuz this will get tiresome.

Snoop tweeted that he was in one of the shark costumes. Not sure if true, but if so, then I'm sure he was high.

where I was last at
It thought the half-time show was a cross between the "the Lion King" and the animation of Sponge Bob. The aquatic imagery made me want to take a leak. So I did.

When the Patriots are in it (often  :)), I wish halftime was NFL vanilla 15 minutes variety. The Pats ran quite a few more plays in the first half than the Seahawks, so their D was probably somewhat gassed. The long halftime probably let them get most of the way back. More basically than time of possession like factors, I'm too psyched for the game to enjoy halftime entertainment anyway. Even Tom Petty, whose songs I like a lot, was wasted on me in the SB to remain unmentioned.

Gotta say, my first impression of Kravitz's presence was the NFL wanting to take the risque (read: homosexual) overtones out of "I Kissed a Girl".  Someone unfamiliar with either artist might have guessed it was his song rather than hers.  Then Missy Elliott came out and performed "Get Ur Freak On" and well, my "trying to tone it down for middle America" theory was dead in the water.

Katy Perry is a mediocre singing talent...she's not going to belt out Broadway tunes like Adele Dazeem...but her songs are catchy and she puts on a hell of a fun show.

Was my first impression as well. I don't think Missy Elliots performance disproves that theory though.

TEN years?

Let's back that up to sixty, and maybe keep going.

60 years is pushing it I think.  The introduction of MTV more-or-less coincided with the move from content to appearance being the driver behind rock music success ......and it's gone progressively downhill since .....but, I digress from the topic.  Back to the regularly-scheduled programming.
