So Denmark in Danish is Denmark? Can’t be that many countries that sound the same in their own language as in English? Or are they changing in English?

I think it's Danmark

Edit: but I've only been in Copenhagen 48 hours and there's a chance that's it's just lots of bad counterfeit jerseys

Because they are a top team. They don't need to writhe on the ground and cry like children to ref. It re-enforces the prejudice against the game by the casual fans watching a supposed the champion caliber team acting out like 5 year olds.
Brazil and Portugal are top teams. I’d argue both are more egregious, but they aren’t held up like Italy.

I truly believe this is an easy thing to stamp out. Examples in this thread have merit, and we aren’t the smartest group of football minds on the planet. I have no earthly clue why it isn’t addressed.

I spent the first 70 minutes or so truly excited for the apparent Renaissance of the Italian team. Aside from Immobile (and I’m assuming Chiellini for most folks), they’re an entertaining and watchable side. I spent the last twenty minutes utterly appalled by their collective behavior and egregious bullshit. I’d absolutely prefer to watch the team lose with dignity than move on like that.

Lol, yes it's Danmark. I can't explain the "E", although the Dutch use it too. I can't explain Dinamarca instead of Danimarca either.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It always bothered me that country names get translated. Surely we should refer to a country as what they are called in their own language.

A Lost Time

Well, as things look now, it seems that by the end of the day the 3 best teams in the tournament and England will have reached the semifinals.

Still no Grealish?! He's a much more incisive player than Mount.
Mount offers more defensive value though, Mount is a v. good presser.

This is probably Southgate's strongest overall XI in this 2-DM shape. He can always bring on Grealish if they need a goal late.

Ukraine is very organized and had a strong tournament. England will have to be pretty sharp to beat them 3-0.

The downside of England's 2-DM system is that they really struggle to build up through the middle. All their buildup play goes through the fullbacks and wingers, and they don't give those wide players a lot of passing options.

But 1-0 up, with Ukraine having had hardly a sniff at goal yet, I don't think Southgate will mind.

England seem very positive and creative this far. Mont and Sancho seem to have made a difference.

England seemed destined to make a mess of one of these Ukrainian attacks. They've been getting lucky when they've lapsed in the last few minutes.

England have good width but they aren't switching fields quick enough to make any use of it.

England defense has looked fragile under what little pressure Ukraine have mustered. Oddly though, the forced substitution has made Ukraine look a bit more dangerous.
