There was a point where QPR was like 4 points out of the playoffs. Then, return to crap form. Now only 4 out from relegationNice work to take down the Pigs.
I don’t even want to talk about Wednesday…leaving aside the poor run of form, that lunatic Chansiri is blowing his meal ticket and is going to doom us back to shit. Sell mofo, sell
That indeed. It does seem that ~60% of the league has at least a punchers chance of promotion every year and a similar number are at risk of relegation if a few things break wrong. This league is volatile, but it does make for great drama, year after year.
Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Luton was a little fortunate to get promoted in the first place. They were a mid-level Championship side that happened to get hot at the right time, make the playoffs and win them. Once in the PL, they did okay for a while, and it looked like they might stay up. Alas, they did not.Can someone tell me why Luton has fallen off the cliff?
I'm just glad we clinched safety. Hoping er keep Marti and really invest in talent. QPR has some pieces. A good offseason and I do.think they could compete for the playoff next seasonWell, it happened and I can breathe a sigh of relief. For those that don't follow the Championship, Leeds won and Burnley beat Sheffield United, sealing the top two spots for those clubs, and promotion to the EPL. The Pigs, if I may, are set for 3rd and Sunderland is locked on 4th, but the final two playoff spots are up for grabs, with two games left to play. The race at the bottom is fairly intense. Plymouth, Luton, Cardiff and others are caught in the whirlpool, trying to stay afloat.
Personally I'll have to prepare for supporting a team the loses the majority of their games, after getting used to winning a lot. Still, promotion is a fine achievement.
Leeds seem like ownership is absolutely itching to fire Farke and hire someone else for the PL. Not sure how I feel about it, seems shitty to sack him after a promotion campaign, but he's also never been a super convincing manager in the top-flight.It will be interesting to see if Leeds or Burnley can stick in the Premier League. We've had two straight years of the three promoted teams going straight down now. I think there is a pretty compelling case to be made that its become more difficult than ever for newly promoted sides to stay up. There is so much money in the PL and many of the clubs that you might normally think would have trouble staying at top level in the long term have invested massively and/or have very good footballing operations that have allowed them to compete in a seemingly more sustainable way (Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth, Forest, Fulham, Palace). On the other hand, many of the promoted teams the last two years haven't really been in a position to truly give it a go: Leicester, Soton, Sheffield United, Luton, and Ipswich were all sort of dead men walking from the jump. They just didn't have enough PL level talent or the willingness/ability to invest enough upon promotion. I think Burnley last year had the best chance to staying up and were just kind of undermined by Kompany's total lack of pragmatism. So Burnley again and a relatively big club like Leeds seem like they'll hopefully be able to give it a much stronger go.
Indeed. The Premier League could use a little old-fashioned excitement.I hope Millwall goes up. Then things will get real.
BristolLeeds and Burnley were automatically promoted as has been clear for weeks.
