Atlanta lost its seventh in a row tonight. Cleveland won its sixth in a row. Keeping those fingers crossed the Hawks keep tumbling and the Nets stumble just enough to push them both out of the playoffs. Knicks winning tonight helps.

Nets are a different team from what we saw early in the season, but still capable of losing a bunch of games as the old legs get tired and guys get banged up. Last night was the beginning of a west coast swing and their next four games are a pair of back-to-backs. NY and Cleveland will push hard even if they mostly suck.

I think it's a longshot that both ATL and BKN miss the playoffs, but if they do they would likely drop below 3 or 4 teams out west in the overall standings. Either way, it would be awesome getting at least a mid-round pick this year. Out of all the picks the Nets owe, it was reasonable to think that this year's would have been the worst. We're in good shape as long as they keep running their team like the Knicks.

At the moment Brooklyn and ATL have the 14th and 15th worst records in the NBA. If the playoffs started today, they'd have the 16th and 17th picks.

It's unlikely, but if they both fell out of the playoffs, that pushes them to the 12th and 13th picks, with the Celtics getting a few (7 out of 1000) more chances in the lottery.

Well right now the 9th and 10th seeds in the East have the 9th and 10th worst records in the league.  The problem is they'd need both teams to get into the top 3, which with the 9th and 10th most ping pong balls has like a .1% chance of happening.

Um Is that Aaron Gordon 6'9" Freshman of the #4 Arizona Wildcats?  If he's still around at the second pick you jump all over him.  I can't imagine him lasting that long, or WCS either.  And I still like Payne as a nice complimentary 4 to Sullinger.
Nbadraft. Net is drumming up controversy by massively underrating him.

Yes, and if only one of them gets into the top 3, that pick will belong to Atlanta, and the Celtics' own pick will be one slot lower.  Would you rather have pick #5 and #17, or pick #6 and #14?   I'd take the scenario with the highest first pick.

I'd rather both teams missed the playoffs and Boston land a top 3 pick giving them a top 3 and #10. Unfortunately there's no chance of the Nets imploding like that so we're left hoping for something like a top 3 and #17.

I am hoping Willie Cauley-Stein (Sophomore) from Kentucky drops to that pick. He's a 7 footer who's very agile for his height (WR in high school). Needs to improve his offensive game, but would benefit a lot playing up tempo with Rondo. Should get tons of second chance points at the NBA level, and doesn't need to possess the ball to be effective.
We don't need WCS to have nights like tonight if there is any chance of him dropping to 16. He's more likely in the 8-12 range anyway but tonight he gave us a tease of his potential once he becomes a man.
