It's Jemele. That's her brand, right or wrong. In this instance, she's laughably wrong. This story isn't about race. Tomlin is pretty loved in the NFL and people have mocked the Raiders for giving an out of touch Gruden all that money. It's sad she is taking this angle, considering the reality.
I agree. Tomlin has regularly gotten a free pass. My original comment was referring to what I expect from white commentators.

Nobody Cares
Nice job hard knocks. It shouldn't be lost in the nuclear disaster that was the Raider's and Brown's responses at every turn, that show completely sidestepped the biggest story in preseason history. Let's see some more montages of him running in his pool instead, fuckheads.
The NFL Films camera access isn't unfettered. The team retains a large amount of editorial control, and clearly the Raiders wanted to squelch Brown's crazy in hopes of getting him to produce on the field.

She makes everything about race - maybe just don't pay attention to the crazies on the fringes (on both sides)
It’s more the folks here “warning” us that’s annoying. It’s crazy enough without the cryptic “oh, people are gonna make this racial” posts.

Dallas has no money with Dak's contract and Cooper's contract situations.
Going forward maybe, but this year they have cap space. Unless you think Brown gets a long-term deal somewhere, a 1 year prove it deal seems most likely

Completely agreed, that is just as bad. We are all in this thread to revel in the crazy that is Antonio Brown and the Raiders. @ Joe Dokes -- trying to insert race into EVERYTHING gets old really quick.

Why don't you just wait until it happens and then post about it.

Yeah, I know it's supposed to be a 5 hour long promotional video for the league and for the teams being covered. It's still an embarrassment on the level of Baghdad Bob.

This does a pretty good job of articulating my thoughts:

And it looks even worse now after perhaps the biggest acquisition of the offseason has been cut.

Schefter: Release hasn't technically happened, but when it does he will be eligible to sign somewhere today, cannot play til week 2 (not that anyone signing him today would play him).

Which are Rosenhaus's go-to teams when all seems lost? That's where to start looking

Dianna Russini saying the Raiders have not developed a backup plan over last few weeks. They assumed they would figure it out and he would play.

I could completely see AB working out with the Patriots. He’s been completely misunderstood. All he’s really ever needed and wanted is a coach to be completely firm with him and a front office that will make him earn his (much lower amount of) money. Yeah, that’s it!

where I was last at
NFL conventional wisdom seems to think BB can fix most headache players, and get them on the cheap and to perform.

IMO he passes on this selfish headcase.

I have a hard time believing AB Is going to go play somewhere for low $ - he is going to demand to be paid guaranteed money, which is not going to happen. My guess is he is going to have an extended period of Free Agency.

This is the weirdest story ever. It’s weirder than Deflategate.
At the risk of opening up DFG convo....just, no. On the one hand we have a diva receiver who’s turned his rhetoric up to 11. On the other, a league conspiracy to punish an innocent HOF QB, coach, and dynasty for being too successful, hiring law firms and consulting agency for hundreds of man hours and millions of dollars along the way to justify their actions.

Nicely done.

If Raiders had no backup plan, this is not bad improvisation. Of course, the agent binds a principal. But I am aware of no authority that the principal doesn’t bind himself. AB asked for his outright release on a global platform, and his release is incompatible with enforcing guarantees under the Raiders contract.

Everyone has litigation risk, including the Raiders in this case. But this was not a bad gambit.

It's probably still going to come down to money as to who Antonio plays for. It's also going to require a management team that can/think they can handle him. And a team that's not out of contention for the Super Bowl.

It's tough to find a team that fits all three.

Indy (Irsay's crazy enough to do it), Dallas (Jerry too), Houston (BOB might be nuts enough to take a flyer), San Fran (Lynch might be crazy enough to do it), Washington (Dan Snyder's DEFINITELY crazy enough to do it and is a stargazer besides)

My money's on Washington.

A team that’s not out of contention? Or out of contention? Your list is weird. Houston and Dallas are plausible contenders. Indy, SF, and Washington aren’t.

That Antonio Brown fellow seems like Presidential material to me.

Also, that whole story is basically a Real Housewives story arc, just with helmets and shoulder pads.

Indy makes some sense, cap wise. Philly? Saints? Both strong enough coaching situations to withstand the inevitable
