The team is currently 5-10 in Sale's 15 previous starts, soon to be 5-11. I get that a lot of this falls on the lack of offense (1 run tonight against a total scrub), but Sale has been bad too many times. And whatever the combination....going 5-11 with your ace is really, really bad. If that were simply reversed, the Sox would be just a couple games out of first right now.
He had a brutal first month when he had a limited spring and was pitching with a toe injury. Since May he has a 2.34 ERA in 65.1 IP with a 14.6 K/9 and 1.79 BB/9 (including tonight) and the team is only 5-5 including tonight. In 7 of those 10 starts he allowed 2 ER or less and the team *only* went 4-3. They're 1-2 in the other 3 starts where he allowed 3 ER twice and 4 ER once. Basically since May he's pitching like an ace but the team is only 5-5 due to lack of offense and the pen blowing a game.

I know. But those first starts count too.

Just seems like a strange time to point out he's been bad too many times when in reality it was only those first handful of starts in April.
It seems like a strange time in the middle of a game when he hasn't been good against a terrible team? And it's his 2nd time in his last 5 starts where he hasn't been very ace-like. I mean don't get me wrong...dude is a great pitcher and I'm not really crapping on him. Like everyone else, I just get frustrated when they lose his starts, and he's had his fair share of contributing to that.

That's the kind of shitty roller finding a hole that wins ballgames.

Xander is quickly becoming my favorite player. This guy seems to love it here and plays his ass off. Love the guy!

If you're talking about the Yankees start he K'd 10 of 25 hitters but got BABIP'd to death. Don't wanna make excuses for him but he had great stuff in that game and gave up a bunch of cheap hits.

But yes, it is frustrating.
