I just realized I picked Medlen after he went down.  Had no idea.
Your exchange right below your pick makes more sense now.

MCL and UCL in the elbow are two names for the same thing.

Apparently you're right, but I swear I read an article at the time he was first injured that said he would not need TJ surgery since it wasn't an UCL issue.  Stupid reporters.

Has Moore actually decided to have the surgery? Last I saw, he and the Rays were still deciding whether  to try rehab first or to go right to surgery since it is a partial tear. Personally I think he should just get the surgery, but I haven't seen any word that he's made that decision.

Apparently, he will.

Yeah, he tried to throw today and when he couldn't he finally faced the facts and accepted that the needs to go under the knife.

I read today that Moore will already be the 13th player to get TJS this year. There were 19 during all of 2013.

Oh yeah, seems like a strong chance that we will be awarding 3rd, 4th and 5th place prizes by the time this season is out, if this keeps up...

This is something I've been wondering about: is Dr. James Andrews the only person who performs Tommy John surgery?

I imagine there are other docs doing the surgery but if you are a mlb team or player you are going to go to the best guy.

From the very little I know about this stuff, this is correct.

Fernandez to DL with right elbow sprain.
I found out from a former colleague (used to work with a team) around 5. Will not throw anyone under the bus but the Marlins are probably going to call up Andrew Heaney and are fully expecting to lose him to TJ.

Hence the vague post above you.

Damn...had hoped to catch him at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday.  Alas.

And Sabathia is on the DL, but for his knee, not his arm.  Nothing's going my way in this contest.

Next year we should also have to pick a regular SP who WON'T have TJS. Where art thou Wakefield, Moyer...
