I think he wanted out because he realized BB was never going to give him the length on the contract he wanted. Once they started 2019 and he realized he'd definitely reach the FA market he decided to leave, imo.

I don't think he was so upset at continuing to roll with 2 year contracts on the Pats that he left to take a 2 year contract from TB.
Yeah. We had no cap space and no playmakers on offense. It was a miracle Brady could do what he did with the pats all this time with the lack of”playmakers” on offense.
Bingo. Is everyone forgetting what the offense looked like in the second half of 2019 and the Titans loss? Tom cares about one thing more than any other, winning the next championship, and I'm thrilled that he was able to make it happen.

Yep. It’s worth noting that, after 2019, it was a lot easier for Brady to essentially pick the team he wanted to go to based on talent. Whereas Belichick was stuck with the team he had (which, admittedly, was of his creation).
This feels pretty spot on. The national media will remember this as the crown jewel of Brady's career and Bill's legacy will be diminished in the eyes of national pundits looking to stoke their twitter followers. That part is a bummer to me.

It's sooooo dumb. In NO way does this diminish BB. Jermaine Wiggins, of all people, put it this way: in the post-TB/BB Pats world, round one went to Brady, but it's not a one-round fight. (I don't even like the Brady vs Belichick narrative...it's completely stupid)

This is spot on. Also, it's always been BB's position and pretty much accepted that its better to move on a year early than a year late. If Brady has a middle of the pack, good not great year next season, or dare I say bad season, was it still the wrong decision?
It is dumb. It turns me off from sports talk entirely and I grew up on sports talk. I know people around me find it boring, so I keep it to myself when commuting. I could listen to banal out-of-market sports talk on a road trip for days, but we'll see, maybe I'll find something more interesting for upcoming commutes in my post-COVID life. The Brady v Belichick thing is just brutal and not worth engaging.
If people want to be short-sighted, sure. But the dude lead the defense of one of the more explosive defense in the 80s, and won 2 SBs while doing it.

Sure, but swapping Brady for Darnold and no way the Jets are Super Bowl contenders. Brady had a great year and led his team to a Super Bowl. But he chose to go to a loaded team, which wasn't surprising, and certainly was his right. But let's acknowledge the reality of the situation.
He could have easily been the difference in 3 games. Then they're in the playoffs. Then anything is possible. (See, Giants)
The biggest difference in the game wasn't Brady v. Mahomes, it was that the Bucs had 6 OL starters (given how well Gronk blocks) and KC had 2. And their front 6 (on defense in nickel) is better than KC's too.
Outside of QB, they were significantly worse in 2020 than they were in 2019. And in 2019 they weren’t particularly close to the Super Bowl.
I agree that Brady went to a team with more offensive talent than the Pats and a very strong young defense. But Brady also helped lead them to a title. He played great after the bye (weapons or not).
This is the correct take on the situation. without Brady, KC rolls to a win, and the national media is talking about Mahomes as....the next Brady. With Brady, TB demolished KC and Mahomes looks like a frog roadkill. He was terrible tonight, heaving up passes under pressure for the sake of it, and scrambling all over the place, also for no reason. He looked like a cross between the Russell Wilson and Roethlisberger, except with the bad parts of each. Now—even if Mahomes wins a bunch of titleX he’ll always have the “couldn’t beat Brady when it counted” asterisk.
