Dear SoSH,

It's been quite a year--for the Patriots, for this forum, and for us at SoSH Football Central. Before the season we had no idea we'd be covering football in a formal way, much less covering a Super Bowl and, for that matter, actually having people reading it. We've enjoyed this project greatly, and are gratified by your responses and hope for even bigger and better things moving forward.

SoSH Football Central (or, Inside the Pylon, as we will soon be known) published over 400 articles this season by 25 different authors. We had another 25 folks helping behind the scenes ‒ editing, technical, marketing ‒ and we always had you, our loyal hometown fans.

We started out with about 800 page views per day; for perspective, SoSH (the board) gets 70 million a year, give or take a few. That base was you, SoSH, checking the site to see what was new. By late October we had our first really big day (8,000!) and kept adding dedicated, repeat visitors.

We had our first 25,000-page view day last week. Our work garnered mentions by Football Outsiders, a New York Times columnist, fivethirtyeight.com, Deadspin, Slate, and many others. And we kept adding readers.

The success of this project is because YOU have helped. It didn’t take long for us to notice people sharing our work on reddit, Twitter, or Facebook. New readers found and liked our content. Many of them came back for more. Sincerely, SoSH, we could not have done it without you. Thank you.

We’d like to keep this going ‒ and then some. We’d like to add and cover baseball, hockey, basketball, culture ‒ the best of SoSH. To do that, we need more of your help. We need great writers, grammar nazis, and busybodies to share links and tweet and post to reddit. SoSH has many great minds, and we want to publish them ‒ on any subject.

Thanks to AlNipper49, SoSHCentral exists. We didn’t build that ‒ Nip did. And we will all be forever grateful to him for taking the chance and footing the bill.

Running an online publishing site costs money, and SoSHCentral is no different. We have lots of big plans ‒ video, infrastructure, maybe even paying writers ‒ but we are a long way from self-sufficiency. To that end, we’re asking for your help.

We truly appreciate how SoSH embraced our project and has made it grow. We hope you enjoyed it and learned a little about football. And we really hope you want to stay involved as we grow into other areas and become a powerhouse for intelligent sports discussion.

Thank you,

The site has been a fantastic addition to SoSH and the overall football community. Must read stuff.

Also, I'm totally in for helping out with the Hockey stuff whenever that becomes a reality.

A nice offer, but I think they are probably looking for people who actually know what they are talking about.

Thnx for the wealth of info, SoSH Football Central....   I'm 56 and have been watching football (mostly casually) since 1968-69 or so... (as well as hockey and baseball)....  I've learned more about schemes and coverages in the last year than ever before thnx to y'all....I also wish these forums had "like" buttons, to give proper props to members like FL4WL3SS and others above and elsewhere, for their insights and witty repartee....

I learned a LOT about the game of football over the past six months from this site -- thanks very much to all the writers.  I've just hit the tip jar.

If you're looking for a copy editor, let me know.   If you ever need some advice on the physics of sports, I can do that, too.

I wish I knew enough about anything to contribute anything approaching the astounding quality this publication achieved as an infant. Congratulations, and thanks.

Mrk (and Nip) - thanks so much! I'm in for $50. In another annual thread, that would probably be about a double. Here, it's - what? A seam route to Gronk for 18 and a first down?

As a quick addendum to this, there is something you can do to help out if funds are tight right now and you can't contribute anything. Just head to our brand new facebook page (www.facebook.com/insidethepylon) and give it a like, as well as share it with your friends. It really helps with getting the word out, and is a major plus for us.

On a related note, I can't say how thankful I am for everyone who has contributed to this so far. It really goes a long way towards helping us to keep things moving, and I am blown away by the generosity of everyone in this community. Thanks again.

It's been 35 days since the coronation -- and Inside The Pylon is still breaking down that epic game. Today, Mark Schofield looks at what at the time seemed destined to be the most decisive play of Super Bowl XLIX: Bobby Wagner's third-quarter pick.

We have a whole slate of recaps, and our writers are rolling out detailed draft prospect profiles as NFL Pro Days continue through early April.

It's also been nearly a month since this thread was started and, while we're most grateful for the contributions received so far, we still need to feed the treadmill gerbils and keep the lights on. So if you've read and enjoyed ITP's content, and you want to help ensure a steady flow of in-depth, no-b.s., devoid-of-hot-takez college & pro football coverage, we hope you'll consider supporting our venture.

Thanks in advance!

Does this work?

Post by Inside The Pylon.

My settings are all fouled up right now so I'm not even sure what's visible to whom, but if that worked (I sometimes only see white space there... maybe it's black and blue?) we would love it if you liked it. Or versa vice.
