Been a lot of talk on this board, maybe too much talk, about your overall worth. But let me clearly state that I remember well the first time you did the Fake-Behind-The-Back-Pass-Scoop-It-In shot move thingie and everyone who saw it went WOAHHHHHH!! at the same time. Great moment. Thank you for the ring and yes, the starting 5 has STILL never lost a playoff series.

And on behalf of The Basketball Gods let me apologize for Stern's stooge refs for robbing you of immortality on May 30, 2012. Your line: 53 minutes, 16-24 FG, 44 pts, 8 rebs, 10 asts, 3 stls and outplayed LeBron in his prime only to be robbed by Ken Mauer and company. Sorry, beating the Heat should be on your resume.

Thanks for the letting the ball roll to half court before picking it up to save time on the clock that everybody now does and for the little plays like below...

Thanks for calling out the Heat when they were complaining to the refs all the time...

Thanks again & have fun out West.

He has the best eye for passing that I have ever seen in my lifetime (I'm only 20). He just made crazy passes that you couldn't even conceive of before they were done. For all his faults, he always played with a ton of swagger on the biggest stage and was one of the few players who looked at LeBron in the eye and didn't blink.

Best assist I have ever seen:

I will miss him! Without a doubt one of my favorite Boston athletes to watch. He often made the game an absolute pleasure to watch. I fondly remember seeing this play live:

May 30, 2012 was the day I got into basketball. I don't really need to say much else.

Rondo was certainly the best Celtics point guard since Bob Cousy.   He was enormously talented and I am glad for him that he is going to an organization that has a chance to go deep into the playoffs.  It was time for a move -- the Celtics won't be strong again for years, and Rondo has a limited window, but it was fun while it lasted.  Godspeed, Rondo.

I am genuinely sad that I won't get to see Rondo in green anymore. Watching him play with one arm was one of the most badass things I've ever seen in the NBA. Thanks for the championship and all the playoff memories, here's to you winning another one. You'll be sorely missed.

It's amazing that this was only 2.5 years ago - only three major guys from that series are playing for contenders, and all three are in different teams (LeBron, Rondo and Pierce).

where I was last at
Rondo at the top of his game, could move the ball in ways few players have ever done. And if the game was a national game, heh, he would do something to get a "holy shit" from me. The man was a joy to watch. He will be missed. Good luck in Big D.

At his best, he could produce absolute brilliance on the court. It was the right time for both parties to move on, and he is going into a great situation in Dallas. Would love to see him get a chance to beat LeBron again.

Loved watching him play.  He could completely control the game at times, and he'd occasionally do stuff I'd never seen anyone do on a basketball court before.  And the one armed game was epic.

A toast to the asshole...

At his best, he was an absolute joy to watch. My favorite player from the "Big 4" era.  People complaining about the guy recently have a very short memory (and easily forget all the injuries he's played with and had to recover from).

I'm looking forward to seeing him with some better teammates and with a real chance to win again.  I'll be rooting for him and the mavericks this year.  Rondo deserves a big ovation on January 2nd.

My 12-year old liked KG, Paul, and Ray.  He LOVED Rondo.  Such a great player for the C's, and had so many moments that would literally bring you to your feet.  I loved the fact that he refused to BS to help his image.  A great modern Celtic.

While it was nigh on inevitable, really bummed to see him go. Easily the most dynamic player the Celts have had in recent years. I don't care if he was temperamental or frustrating to watch. He was one of "our" guys. Good luck seeking another title, Rajon!

Rajon, you will always be my 2nd favorite Celtics of the modern (post-Bird) era. I will miss you, especially your fake no look pass and up for layins. You were underappreciated here, and I hope you win a ring in the Big D. You now play for the best owner in the NBA.

You are much better than Jameer Nelson and picks.

Superior passing instincts, exceptional quickness...not much else.  Always hated his total game, and apparent unwillingness to work on shooting, etc.  A frustrating talent.

Someone needs to watch some Bird videos before claiming Rondo's passes were the best ever.

Yeah, his dynamism is what I will miss.  Frustrated that he never developed the scoring touch required to make him elite but incredibly appreciative of what he accomplished (and how he looked accomplishing it) during his time with PP, KG, and, to a lesser extent, Ray Allen.

Also yes to some of us needing to revisit Bird's passing before we get too crazy with the Rondo passing hosannas.

Goodbye to one of my all-time favorite Celtics. I'm loving the collection of Rondo peak moments. Knee injury, elbow injury and all manner of scrapes and bruises, Rondo is not the athletic specimen he used to be, and it looks like his prime is fully over. He's a good playmaking option for a team with serious playoff ambitions, which of course is not the Celtics.

Careful, Brickowski might tell you that Dwight Howard and Rajon Rondo are awful players and call you a moron for stuff like this.

I went to post a video of the hyperextended elbow game, but I forgot how brutal that was. He played his ass off with one arm after that. He was such a perfect fit for Pauly, KG and Ray.

It seems harder and harder to find truly distinct talent in sports anymore. To me, that was Rondo. Plus, he pulled off an awesome Halloween costume.

I just love the commercials from this era.  Not as impressive TSC's link, but still gets me pumped up.

So glad the enlightened basketball fans continue to educate us on how overrated he is. I think you're in the wrong thread.

I'm 34. My cognitive NBA memory starts around 1990. Rondo is the best passer I've ever seen (missed Magic's prime). Thanks for '08, '10, and '12. Go Mavs.

Really looking forward to watching Rondo turn the Mavs into a contender.  He's had a rough couple seasons here with all the injuries & turnover, but he absolutely carried this team & willed them to be contenders after '07-'08.  Lots of fond memories & inspiring moments.

A singular talent, I'm sorry to see RR go but he was meant to play for a winner where games are more meaningful.

It's funny how people accuse him of being too unselfish. Not many NBA players you can say that about.

Hopefully, RR will never have to pay for a drink in Boston.

He was the only Celtics player that made me stand up in my living room in excitement on a routine basis. '08 was awesome, and watching him develop was really fun. I hope Dallas destroys Cleveland in the Finals while he averages a triple double. Watching Nelson is going to be such a change.
