Thanks for being one of the 25 that hoisted the trophy for the first home clinching World Series win since 1918.

Thanks for buying a cigar store Indian

Thanks for buying a duck boat and further stimulating the local economy

Thanks for your start against the Rays where for one night you proved your worth on the field. Without that start none of the above would have happened.

Thanks for "getting it" when you spoke about the city and it's fans.

Thanks for just being you and all the best in San Francisco

Amen - thanks for stopping by, Jake. It's too bad your teammates couldn't get a hit to save their lives when you pitched this year, but thanks for last year, and your belief in the team.

Glad someone started this. There's very few professional baseball players that I have come to respect more than Jake Peavy. Just a class act all the way around. A good guy, a great teammate, and a World Champion. I'm not sure if the Sox win the World Series last year without him. The 2013 Red Sox had incredible team chemistry. They embraced the city after the bombing and took on the resilient spirit of its people. And Jake Peavy was a huge huge part of that chemistry. It won't appear in the stats, but I for one won't forget how important he was to the team and the city. So thank you, Jake. Now go kick Becket's ass in the playoffs.

This reply won't be main board worthy, but you said it better than I could.

This.

Such a genuine show of emotion in this picture.  I mean, damn, he is happiness personified here. I hope he wins it all again in SF.  All his stomping around and yelling at himself through his glove on the mound just made me like the guy that much more.

I've always loved Peavy, always thought that guys like him are rare, always thought it would be great for him to win a ring. So glad that he did it in Boston.

Here's the other thing that makes me grateful, and for which I thank him. That 2013 was no joke. It was no fluke. Those guys went out and won the title, and earned it, and they were the best team standing at the end. There is already a narrative of fluke and luck beginning to seep around, especially because this year's version, with many of the same guys, has sucked. Last year was a surprise to everyone, and the more thrilling and enjoyable because it was a surprise, but winning it all was not luck. There is no luck to play 162 and be one of the playoff teams at the end. There is no luck beating the best pitching in baseball, consistently, in October by sticking with a disciplined plan to beat the best pitching in October. Of course there is a crapshoot element to results -- but they got the results by staying with a disciplined plan.

That Jake Peavy was one of those guys was a source of great satisfaction for me, a baseball lifer. That he has been one of the most vocal guys, and the earliest out front, to challenge the cynical stupidity of the luck-claimers is even more reason why I still think the world of him. Good luck to him. He's a Sox to me.

A lot of good points have been touched on but I really have to point out how much of a sucker I am for players with his heart and demeanor on the mound.

In an age where I try to put aside the sentimental connection and judge things statistically, I'd be lying if I said I didn't love the way he acted out on the mound.

I wouldn't change 2013 for literally anything but it's too bad we got a mid 30's Peavy season because that anger on the mound this year came off as heartfelt passion for the game when he was dominant in SD where he wasn't as appreciated as he should have been.

Really going to miss this dude.

I'll be glued into tomorrow nights game acting as if he's wearing a Red Sox uniform.

Thanks for being a part of a World Series championship. Seemed like a really great dude that loved being here. Buying the duck boat was one of the best parts of the entire run as was him (and several other players) taking over Intentional Talk for that segment before the ALDS. Did they ever see Celine Dion?

One of the team's leaders.  Now gone... along with Dempster... there is a void.

However, onward and upward.

You made an indelible contribution to an unforgettable team.
