Yup. The SBH20 is what I use for exactly that function - keeps my phone in-pocket and allows me to answer calls if necessary.

I'm a little confused. That looks like something that has a wire that runs from the unit to the headphone. I will have my phone in my pocket and don't want to mess with a wire as I walk. I just want the headphones to pair to the phone wireless.

There are a lot of variables in terms of your personal preferences, not the least of which is price point.  Other things to consider are earbud or headphones?  On ear, over ear, in ear?  Mic, no mic?  Give us some guidance.

I clip this to my collar - the headphones come with a super-short wire.  Even with my SE 425s, I tuck the extra wire in my shirt and it's not at all intrusive. Phone stays in-pocket, this is clipped to lapel, and I get to use my earphones. The value proposition is you get to use your favorite headphones with this.

Ah, gotcha. I don't have anything except earbuds.

jayhoz, price I don't care but don't want to spend $200 really. Headphones are fine, don't want too bulky bit comfort is key. Since I'll be sweaty that's an important point for me, something that won't make me swelter. Earbuds might be the best bet for that but I know zero about headphones.

I have a pair of these:

There's a wire connecting the two earbuds, but that's it.  Comes with a plug-in charger (usb).  And they're under $20. They work great for me when I'm doing weight-training, since I don't like getting the cords caught in the machines.

So far I'm having a little trouble getting into Prime Day.  A couple interesting small ticket things were sold out when I woke up.  I only see about a dozen offers for stuff in total.  I was expecting a bit more.

$17.49 for 100 blank DVDs? They were $12 at Newegg last week. This day looks like a big yawner.

Yeah they're getting killed for this. I haven't seen any deals that aren't better elsewhere at other times. They've bundled cheap stuff and marked up the price and called it a sale on many things.

Only deals I saw that were worthwhile were a couple of "$25 gift card for $20" sales, almost everything else is just a yard sale of last generation models. Huge letdown.

Smart way to move dusty merchandise. Publicize the biggest sale ever and then just promote it at normal prices!

GearXS.com is a discount site that has mostly had typical 'direct-from-China' stuff including all sorts of cheap electronics, now they seem to be starting mystery deal specials and the first one seems to be serious:  TODAY ONLY

http://www.gearxs.com/linksys-ac1200-wi-fi-wireless-dual-band-router-smart-wi-fi-app-enabled-to-control-your-network-from-anywhere-ea6100?src=email

Linksys AC1200 wifi router.    $45 with free ground shipping.

Dual band, b/a/g/n/ac can do simultaneous bands, includes 2 external antennas. This is a fully modern mainstream router option and the features are more than most will ever need.  This is $150 at Newegg or Amazon today, giveaway price, if you're considering a new wifi router this a  no-brainer.

Perhaps a stupid question, but would that router work with FIOS?  I'm having a hard time getting wifi to reach the outer corners of my house and if this will help I'd pull the trigger.  I'm not sure whether I have an option to not use the shitty Verizon router though, and a quick internet search isn't sorting it out for me.

You can use a new router WITH the Verizon, which you need to get from optical to ethernet.

This explanation will work, except in this case you're adding an AC1200 unit instead of the even more advanced AC1900:

Thanks.  I'm willing to pay more for a better solution so maybe I'll pass on the daily deal and look to do some research on other options like the AC1900.  Appreciate the info though!

ahh Amazon's search has always been iffy, otoh why would you want to spend 45% more for the same item ?
You wouldn't, but someone who misses the deal today might want a link for tomorrow, even if it costs a bit more.

I was spot checking some of their prices yesterday.  Their price matching algorithm needs some work especially when they are trying to match with a different pack size.

I would imagine that Amazon will start manipulating their data to fuck with these guys.

Monoprice deals thru 7/24

15% off their vast assortment of TV and monitor wall mounts.

Monoprice 6 piece Home Theater 5.1 system. This is probably the least expensive 5.1 system with powered sub that does not sound like an assortment of toys. Normally $185, on sale for $159, but note this does NOT include free shipping, the system weighs 46 lbs and shipping to the East coast will run c. $45. (Monoprice never does free shipping).

Linksys AC1200 sale is back at GearXS, but now it's $47 instead of 45, others are also discounting this, but nowhere as low as $47 with free shipping.

Newegg is back with what seems to be "B stock" Lenovo refurbs direct from Lenovo:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834319464&utm_medium=Email&utm_source=IGNEFL080615&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL080615&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL080615-_-EMC-080615-Index-_-AllLaptopsNotebooks-_-34319464-S2A9B

Thinkpad T420      $200

These usually go refurbed, less complete, for $279 and up from 3rd parties.

i5-2520M (2.5 Ghz)
14"   1366x768 screen
4 GB ram
320 Gb 7200 rpm HD
DVD-Rom
a/g/n wifi, no BT
Gig ethernet
4in1 card reader

The T420 is the last Thinkpad with only USB 2.0 (and external eSata), but there is, besides the HD, an mSata port inside and the optical drive can be replaced with an inexpensive ultrabay caddy which will allow install of any 7mm standard sized SSD so you have 2 easy options to add almost any sized SSD. The quality of the refurb seems very high, decent chance you get a battery with real life left and 90 day warranty. Even without any upgrades this is an entirely usable modern laptop with Win 7 Pro x64 with a serious dual core i5 at virtually disposable price.

Wow, tempting. The TV sells for $400 so lets say you flip it for $300 you essentially get a $200 Xbone.

Rakuten   thru 8/23

http://www.rakuten.com/prod/fantom-drives-greendrive-3tb-7200-rpm-usb-3-0-2-0-aluminum-external/268845452.html?scid=em_Promotional_20150818Daily&adid=17653&rmatt=tsid:1012038|cid:4438|cgid:44383068682

Fantom 3 Tb USB 3.0 external drive     $70  when you use promo code FANTOM40

Pros: In a slightly bulkier all aluminum case, this has better ventilation and shock protection than the average external drive. The larger size means it also uses a full size USB 3 'B' type connector, not a tiny micro style that's far more prone to breakage. Also 7200 rpm.

Cons: Fantom is a repackager, they don't make hard drives and you can get either a Seagate or HGST inside, they use both, no way to tell. 1 year warranty.  Needs external ps (wallwart) included.

Can you pull these drives and use them as internals or do they block that like WD?

No idea because you can't be sure what's in there. Note when Newegg has it's best sales (easily once each month), the Toshiba HGST (WD) 3Tb 7200 rpm drive is on sale in factory box for $79. Fantom seems to buy from whoever has the best price for them and the drives inside change with each production run.  Yes, the fact that you can often buy an external USB drive for less than a bare hard drive is very annoying, why does this happen ?  Most externals have just a 1 yr warranty, almost all bare drives have at least 2 or 3 year warranties. The boxed Toshibas have a 3 yr warranty.

Woot has new (not refurb) 250GB platter hard drives for $14.99 with 1-year warranty. Can be handy to have around for uses such as a boot drive for an alternate OS you can rotate into service.

As Black Friday approaches, just a small note that NetGear is offering rebates on many of its switches purchased at MicroCenter.

For example, you can get the 5-port gigabit GS105 for $19.99 after a $10 rebate. LINK

ESET Multi-Device Security currently 50% off at their site http://www.eset.com. You can get 3 PCs + 3 Additional devices (tablet, phones) for 2 years for $64.99.

I may get blasted but I find eset to be a great AV program with a very small footprint. Nothing annoys me more than an AV or security service hogging all my resources.
