He's pretty good even without 2 scorers in front of him. He's Ben Wallace, if Wallace was a worst rebounder and plus offensive player.
I think the Bam dislike on here is out of control. He's one of the best defenders in basketball and a very good offensive player, even if he isn't a 20 point per game scorer.

I don't really get the Wallace comparison though. Wallace was a comically bad offensive player, to the degree its hard to imagine in him playing in any other era other than the one he played in. He once managed to shoot under 40% for a season despite 85% of his shots coming within ten feet of the basket and is a career 41% free throw shooter, while only averaging more than 2 assists per game once.

He hasn't set a legal screen since the Clinton Administration

I've avoided chiming in on the whole Tatum thing because who knows what's going on from his end. He hasn't played great. Maybe he's enduring NBA title hangover. Maybe the SI cover curse. Maybe he's got an injury. Maybe he (and everyone else) are dicking around in practice and developing some crap habits, like hitters in the home run derby who suddenly look shaky post-ASG. I am optimistic he will be fine.
As for the other side of the Tatum situation, I am trying not to go into some kind of conspiracy theory like sneaker politics or Kerr trying to entice players to GSW or Kerr is secretly a big dumb idiot who lucked into generational players who could coach themselves or anything like that. I want to believe that Kerr had so many minutes to go around, Tatum got the short end of that under whatever logic Kerr used and that was that.
Now all of that said, between the usage of Tatum/Ant/Booker/Embiid, Kerr has made a lot of weird choices. And as much as I am trying to avoid conspiracy theories, I am wondering if one of the reason Coach K was so effective was that he didn't need this bullshit being a collegiate coach. It was all Xs and Os with some ego management. He didn't have to answer to Nike. He didn't have to answer to his own team and give the appearance of playing politics to give perks to certain pending FAs. He came from a system that had a number of one-and-dones and could figure out how to get the most out of people in a short time when they had other agendas. Not saying bring back Coach K, but maybe the college coaching pool is worth a look next time around.

it's too bad Tatum has completely lost his shot, because a bench group of Davis/Bam/Tatum/White/Holiday would be both very good offensively and an absolute wall defensively.

Yes on most of this, but not the Nike piece.

It's kind of amazing how dominant Boston was in the playoffs without KP + the JAYs both struggling from 3...

CJM did a heckuva job

I know it's irrational of me (or is it?) but this performance by Tatum, plus his bad shooting in the finals has me just a tick worried about him for this coming season.

Curry continues to be ass.
He's been quietly pretty bad all summer. He's not hitting his shots and SSD is picking on him. He's worth the wait because he will find his shot and his mere presence opens things up for the offense, but not exactly a stellar olympic debut.

Royal Ivey putting himself in position for some Head Coaching interviews next summer. He has this group playing their asses off every game for 40 minutes.

it's nothing to worry about

Tatum just needs a break from basketball & then work on his 3pt mechanics in September

He mostly needs to balance out his C&S & PU3s, which shouldn't be too difficult playing next to 4 All-Star level players.

White is going to make the All Star team next year. This is the kind of publicity he's needed.

I know about the on court stuff, but off court D Wade seems like one of the good ones.
