I wouldn't be surprised to see Danny being willing to overpay on a non-Tatum proposal to tempt New Orleans to take the package sans Tatum. Something like Brown/SAC/MEM/LAC/Time Lord/Filler.

If you are a rebuilding team and your choice is Tatum/Filler/token pick or Brown/Time Lord and 3-4 first round picks, the decision starts to get tougher.

From Ferry's standpoint he needs young talent and badly. Jrue is probably Knick-bound if they strike out on Davis. I still think that New York's the most likely landing spot for Davis, even if it's nearly guaranteed to blow up in their faces.

Ferry needs to bottom out next year, though, doesn't he? Rather than build a nice young roster that can win 35-40 games? I mean he doesn't have to go full Sam Hinkie but you'd think he would really want the value of the assets he acquires to be a year or few into the future.

I get needing a potential future star to build around and market to fans, but Tatum may add too much value too soon to really be optimal. If he really thinks he doesn't need to put butts in seats next year, then in his shoes I'd prefer more picks and Brown over Tatum + shit sandwich.

If the Memphis pick conveys this year Boston’s pretty well screwed in that regard though. At that point New York is in the driver’s seat due to the Porzingis trade.
