Cleveland, then Seattle and then pretty much in the order you've listed except I'd probably root for the two less shameful others against a few of the NL teams should it come to that.

Mets, Mariners, and Guardians in no particular order. Mariners and Guardians for reasons stated above. Mets for geographic affinity and because deGrom and Scherzer are fun to watch throw a ball. I hold no grudges over 1986 but certainly understand that this is (probably) a minority position around here.

Other rooting interests are that I will actively root against any team that employs Manny Machado, the Yankees, and the Astros.

Edit: to add rooting against the Yankees and Astros and to add a qualifier to my guess about the majority of the board's position on the Mets.

Milwaukee (but it’s more of an anti-Phillies position, if we’re supposed to include the final regular season push).

I chose the Brewers because they've been a fun team to watch the last few years. If I had to pick an AL team, I guess it would be the Mariners. I love Tito but there's still some rivalry scar tissue for me with the Guardians dating back to the late 90s.

I voted for the Mets, b/c I like the team now and because my in-laws, Mets fans, rooted hard for the Red Sox over the Yankees as far back as 2003. I think I owe them.

Mariners, Brewers, Padres would all be fine. Mets would be OK but not ideal.

Not a fan of Cleveland due to my adopting the Twins as the local team (also just not a fan of the city or state, generally). Sick of the fucking Cardinals. Braves won recently and have a gross racist element to the team name/imagery. Dodgers are becoming Yankees West and won recently. Phillies...still kind of over Philadelphia's sports attitude and shtick from the SB win over the Patriots. Like, we get it, you're assholes about sports. Congrats.

But really anybody but NYY.

The most invested & most exciting World Series matchup for me would be Mets vs Guardians, and knowing Terry Francona might not have too many seasons left, I'd like him to go out on top. I believe with the new Mets ownership they will be back again sooner than if this was the prior ownership.

The most invested but least exciting World Series matchup for me will be Dodgers vs Yankees. They are equally annoying in their high priced talent. If this were the matchup, obviously I want LAD over MFY, and Mookie to be the MVP. In every instance I want Mookie to be the greatest offensive hitter, but this is the only instance I would prefer the Dodgers to win.

I would be least interested in any matchup variation of Mariners, Brewers, Phillies, and Braves.

I love Don Orsillo even though I don't think he'd be announcing any games(?), so mild interest in them winning, but my disdain for Machado cancels this out a bit. Pujols going out on top with postseason heroics isn't a bad reason to cheer.

edit: I didn't even think of the Astros or Blue Jays. I'd like the Astros to be bounced in the first round so I don't have to think of them. I love JBJ, and hope he is the best hitter for the Blue Jays so a team will sign him next year.

I'm going with the Mariners. They've never won anything and, as far as I know, have a non-obnoxious fan base.
Mariners fans are perfectly nice until they sense that there are too many (Yankees/Red Sox/Blue Jays) fans in the house, then they turn nasty! But I don't blame them.

I live in Seattle now so it's an easy choice for me, but really I always liked the Mariners back to the days of Jim Presley, Dave Valle, Harold Reynolds and Mike Moore. They were fun and were the least of the Sox' problems.

Get that "shameful, shameful other" bullshit out of here.

Go 'Stros.
I chose the Dodgers, but the Astros are a close second and that's mostly because of Dusty. He's already HOF bound, but a World Series ring would cement it for him. (As soon as they win, they zip to near the end of the line.)

If I had to make a list it would be:

Dodgers (I can't root against Dave Roberts, I just can't)
Astros (See above)
Mariners (Only team not to make a World Series, I bet the crowd would be crazy)
Padres (I want more teams to really go for it when they have a chance)
Guardians (Francona)
Brewers (Uecker deserves it)
Blue Jays (They're a fun team)
Mets (That pitching staff could be nails in October)
Phillies (Sure. Why not?)
Cardinals (Meh. I'm a little sick of StL)
Braves (They won last year, though their team is pretty fun too)
Yankees (No thanks)
Rays (I hate everything about this stupid franchise. Everything.)

My wife is a Yankees fan, and I appreciate her putting up with me.
My oldest son is a Yankees fan, and coming off a challenging year, I wish him some happiness.

Consequently, I hope the MFY hold a one-run lead after one inning in the first game of their opening series before getting swept by whomever.

[I voted for Tito.]

Let's go Mets!

Exploring my feelings about Cleveland. Have had strong negative feels for years due to some mixture of their old name and old rivalries with the Sox. Now that they have changed the name I feel a bit of an urge to recognize it by spending some rooting capital on them.

Mariners, Brewers are inoffensive and fine. Always and forever bored by the Cardinals. Cannot root for Manny Machado. Specifically rooting against Dodgers and, especially, the Yankees.

Padres -- wife is from San Diego, and her and her dad are long-suffering. Would be pretty great to see them make a run to the World Series.

I voted Mariners, but really they and the Guardians are #1 and 1A. Brewers #2, so definitely pulling for them to beat out the Phillies to make the tournament. Otherwise, active rooting against the Yankees.

Yeah... I'm not rooting so much for Cleveland as I am for Tito. The man is a Red Sox legend and (better be) future Red Sox and hopefully MLB Hall of Famer.

Added bonus... Cleveland winning means NY doesn't.

If not Cleveland, then LA (Go Mookie!) Anything other than that and I'm mostly catching up on my Universal Monster DVD collection in October.

My dad grew up in LA, and I grew up rooting for them as my NL team (wore a hole in the '88 championship VHS tape), so I picked them. In the AL, go mariners.

Go Mookie.

Hoping for Dodgers Mariners World Series. West Coast Best Coast

Vicarious traffic is the best traffic. 5:15 game times, wheeee.

Order specific:
Dodgers (Mookie, Freeman)
Mariners (Griffey, Macklemore, would be fun to see for the city)
Indo-Guardians (Francona)

Brewers (Nice logo, nice name, not much history of winning, would anger Cubs/White Sox)
Mets (Degrom/Scherzer, fast games I hope)
Padres (would be higher if not Machado)
Bravos (would be higher if hadn't won last year)

Phillies (Waltham, haven't won much)

Astros (I like Altuve, sue me)

Blue Jays (Vladdy is a plus, AL East and Canada is a minus)

Cardinals ('46 and '67)

When I was about 10, my younger brother asked me for a baseball card, and being selfish I gave him one I didn’t care about at all. It was some scrub from the Blue Jays, and he’s been a huge fan ever since, and it’s entirely my fault. I’m rooting for them so he can finally see them win something. After that, Guardians for Terry, Cardinals because it would be cool for Pujols and being in Arizona I like Goldschmidt.

There are 25 other guys on the team (plus a 1.45 million fans in the city) who I'm thinking about more. And if Dustin Pedroia doesn't harbor any ill-will towards the guy then I really can't either.
Sure you can? And for one thing, I read Pedroia's quotes more as him wanting to avoid controversy and then ultimately being at peace with his career given all the efforts he had made to get back on the field than as genuinely forgiving Machado. Maybe I'm missing something in these MassLive articles but the quote they seem to be basing the headlines on is: <<"What is this, high school?" Pedroia said. "I'm a grown-ass man, dude. Come on. I'm just working hard to get healthy.">> I don't read that as a grant of absolution, much more of a stop asking me about it. And for another thing, the Pedroia incident is just one of several of Machado's dirty and/or dangerous acts (including multiple slide tackles, throwing a bat at a third baseman, attempting to throw a helmet at a third baseman, stomping on a first baseman's ankle). I don't imagine this is going to change your mind so I'll part with one thought, that we can both enjoy Machado striking out to end the 2018 World Series.

Mets. I've lived in NYC for 25 years and they're my baseball mistress. Their '15 run was such a blast - I want to see them seal the deal and put it in the books.

Second would be Cleveland - it's a suprisingly fun town, they haven't won in three quarters of a century, and Tito.

I wish I liked the Mariners more but my one takeaway from going to a game out there was that I ate a grasshopper - it's just such a bland franchise.

I wish I liked the Dodgers less but those uniforms and that ballpark are both fantastic. Plus, the Brooklyn lineage.

Hard to overlook that when Sox pitchers did decide to "retaliate" against Machado, Pedroia was on the top step of the dugout assuring Machado that he didn't ask them to do it. I got the impression that Pedroia held no ill will toward Machado.

There’s a lot of space between “I didn’t want you retaliated against with a ball thrown 98 mph at your head” and “I forgive you”. We don’t know where Pedroia stands on that spectrum and, regardless, it doesn’t absolve Machado for that or his other misdeeds.

The last NL WC spot is down to Milwaukee or Philly. I really like the city of Philly but generally can’t stand their fans so I’m hoping for Milwaukee to overtake them. Final schedule favors Milwaukee to get in.
If they tie… wha happen???

I voted Mets, because I have two nephews who are huge Mets fans. Also, my younger brother (and father of one of those nephews) became a big baseball fan over the past few years from driving his son around the country trying to hit all the ballparks (they've been to all the ones except for those on the western side of the Mississippi), and he's primarily a Mets fan.

After that, I'd go Cardinals, Phillies, Guardians, Mariners, Dodgers, Padres, and then any team but the MFYs. I'd put the Rays just level of hell above them. I don't really have any animosity towards the Jays, and I have a niece who lives in Houston and she and her husband are Astros fans so my ire towards that team does not burn as hot as it does for the Rays or the MFYs.

Just moved to Philadelphia so have to root for them (especially since I can't in good conscience make myself pick up any of their other sports teams as secondary teams; at least the Phillies are in a different league). Didn't think about Cleveland and Tito so they'd be second, after that rooting interest goes to team that's gone the longest without winning or have never won which gets you Mariners and Padres. Mets for the NY non-Yankees connection. Otherwise indifferent except adamantly no Astros, Rays, Yankees.

The Mariners or the Brewers. I could only pick one, so I went with Seattle. But a first-timer is always fun. San Diego would be my third, for the same reason, but they're not as good a story as the Ms, who are so, so due.
