I wonder if it is. I don't think they'll top a list of absoute-favorites, but if push came to shove I think most here would back the Mets over the Yanks.I hold no grudges over 1986 but certainly understand that this is a minority position around here.
Mariners fans are perfectly nice until they sense that there are too many (Yankees/Red Sox/Blue Jays) fans in the house, then they turn nasty! But I don't blame them.I'm going with the Mariners. They've never won anything and, as far as I know, have a non-obnoxious fan base.
I chose the Dodgers, but the Astros are a close second and that's mostly because of Dusty. He's already HOF bound, but a World Series ring would cement it for him. (As soon as they win, they zip to near the end of the line.)Get that "shameful, shameful other" bullshit out of here.
Go 'Stros.
I say this without irony: this post represents what SoSH is all about. My wife is a Yankees fan, and I appreciate her putting up with me.
My oldest son is a Yankees fan, and coming off a challenging year, I wish him some happiness.
Consequently, I hope the MFY hold a one-run lead after one inning in the first game of their opening series before getting swept by whomever.
[I voted for Tito.]

I just want to see an untainted championship. After that, I'll be good for a while.I chose the Dodgers, but the Astros are a close second and that's mostly because of Dusty. If I had to make a list it would be:
Dodgers (I can't root against Dave Roberts, I just can't)
Astros (See above)
Mariners (Only team not to make a World Series, I bet the crowd would be crazy)
Padres (I want more teams to really go for it when they have a chance)
Guardians (Francona)
Brewers (Uecker deserves it)
Blue Jays (They're a fun team)
Mets (That pitching staff could be nails in October)
Phillies (Sure. Why not?)
Cardinals (Meh. I'm a little sick of StL)
Braves (They won last year, though their team is pretty fun too)
Yankees (No thanks)
Rays (I hate everything about this stupid franchise. Everything.)
There are 25 other guys on the team (plus a 1.45 million fans in the city) who I'm thinking about more. And if Dustin Pedroia doesn't harbor any ill-will towards the guy then I really can't either. It is baffling to me thatany Red Sox fananyone could root for Manny Machado.
Oh, and this. Near SDLiving in San Diego, I gotta go Padres.
Sure you can? And for one thing, I read Pedroia's quotes more as him wanting to avoid controversy and then ultimately being at peace with his career given all the efforts he had made to get back on the field than as genuinely forgiving Machado. Maybe I'm missing something in these MassLive articles but the quote they seem to be basing the headlines on is: <<"What is this, high school?" Pedroia said. "I'm a grown-ass man, dude. Come on. I'm just working hard to get healthy.">> I don't read that as a grant of absolution, much more of a stop asking me about it. And for another thing, the Pedroia incident is just one of several of Machado's dirty and/or dangerous acts (including multiple slide tackles, throwing a bat at a third baseman, attempting to throw a helmet at a third baseman, stomping on a first baseman's ankle). I don't imagine this is going to change your mind so I'll part with one thought, that we can both enjoy Machado striking out to end the 2018 World Series. There are 25 other guys on the team (plus a 1.45 million fans in the city) who I'm thinking about more. Hard to overlook that when Sox pitchers did decide to "retaliate" against Machado, Pedroia was on the top step of the dugout assuring Machado that he didn't ask them to do it. I got the impression that Pedroia held no ill will toward Machado.Sure you can? There’s a lot of space between “I didn’t want you retaliated against with a ball thrown 98 mph at your head” and “I forgive you”. We don’t know where Pedroia stands on that spectrum and, regardless, it doesn’t absolve Machado for that or his other misdeeds.Hard to overlook that when Sox pitchers did decide to "retaliate" against Machado, Pedroia was on the top step of the dugout assuring Machado that he didn't ask them to do it. Philly won the season series so they get the spot. The last NL WC spot is down to Milwaukee or Philly. I really like the city of Philly but generally can’t stand their fans so I’m hoping for Milwaukee to overtake them. Final schedule favors Milwaukee to get in.
If they tie… wha happen???
