Syncing Music from Phone to Car Stereo

Thanks to my wonderful friends, my AUX jack is broken in my car. Unfortunately my car does not support bluetooth music players (but does support bluetooth calling) from my phone. Instead of paying $140 for my AUX jack replaced by my car dealer, I'm looking into other alternatives and options.

What exactly am I looking for?
Would it be a bluetooth FM transmitter? Does that automatically sync to both the phone/car bluetooths and play music to the car stereo system?
I'm a bit of a novice in this field, so any help or directions into potential brands/items would be appreciated. Thank you.

Where do you live?  FM transmitters are notoriously bad in and around cities where it is hard to find a clear channel to broadcast over.

Your car doesn't happen to have a tape deck does it?

If you are keeping the car more than a year, I'd fix the AUX in.

You can get a replacement stereo with aux jack for around $60 on Amazon. I did earlier this year and spent a few hours/YouTube videos learning how to install it, and it was fairly easy.

I figured the FM sound quality would suck.
And no I do not have a tape deck.
I appreciate everyones input though, I guess its a better idea to just shell out the ~ $60 AUX jack and try to install it myself.

The other kind of horrible option that might be okay if you're really cash-strapped and plan on replacing in the next year or so: get a bluetooth speaker, set it in the console somewhere. When you sell the car, at least you'll have the speaker. But it's ugly and you'll need to remember to flip it on and off. Replacing the stereo's a better way to go.
