Wasn't sure where to post this - here or the gambling forum. Received the email for the "big pool" last night. After taking a year off, I think I'll be diving back in.

Did we have a SoSH entry last year? Is there interest in one this year? IIRC @tonyandpals relinquished control of the entries?

I think there's definitely interest from people like me. Unfortunately, I think the blow up between a few participants a couple years ago may have contributed to the group's demise last year. Hopefully cooler heads can prevail going forward.

Looking back we actually haven't had a group entry since 2018, as Tony couldn't run our group entry in 2019. I think that was a bigger factor than the arguing in 2018.

I forget what year I gave up on it, but it was more of a resource thing for me. The infighting and the spinoff group didn't help, but really it came down to time. I'd participate in a group thing if someone managed. I still do my own (poorly) and like to watch how others do, but I just can't manage the beast anymore.

In a nutshell, a splinter group formed and it caused a ton of friction due to competitive advantages which were gained among other things. I don't mean to rehash things. I just think the whole spirit of the exercise is to have fun working together, so if we (hopefully) do this again let's all try to remember that.

In if we do a group thing. Voting and discussion were fun a few years back.

What the heck happened? How could a survivor pool - which is pretty straightforward - result in a blowup?

EDIT - Oh I missed your explanation. No need to repeat.

No. If I recall correctly, there was a split between some people who only wanted to do a simulation-based approached and others who wanted to actually discuss the games and pick based on our collective knowledge and experience. And it got annoying.

I bought my own share. But I'd be up for doing a pool as well. This used to be in the gambling forum so I didn't notice this thread. Maybe a mod can move it there?

I'm gonna buy my own (or a few) but I'd be down for:

A small group for discussion and picks.
A large group for discussion and picks.

I'm out on a simulation based approach. If I wanted that, I'd just update madden rosters every week and simulate the games.

At a minimum a discussion thread would be helpful even if we don't do a pool. I always like to hear other strategies and thoughts.

How does one buy their own share? I’d like two. Hook a guy up, Ross?
