Thought this would be a good place to discuss the various memorabilia that we can purchase to commemorate this, a fine moment in our lives.

So I'm kicking around the idea of buying a jersey.

I've never owned a team jersey before.   I figure, if not now, when?  Edelman?  Wilfork?  Gronk?  Brady?

One thing I find perplexing is that they are offering "Super Bowl Game Jerseys" in dark blue and red.   Would you get a "Super Bowl" jersey in a color other than the one they played in?

I wish the generic t-shirts didn't have "We Are All Patriots" written on them. Not wild about the appropriated jingoism.

The only Patriots gear I own is a throwback John Hannah jersey.  I bought it after the Pats won their first super bowl.  I know he was from a different era, but he was always my favorite player when I was a kid (and probably my favorite player of all time), and the super bowl victory gave me the reason to spend more than I should on some Patriots swag. I don't wear it as much as I wish I did, but I wear it a heck of a lot more than I would wear a commemorative t-shirt.  I would say go jersey. If you are buying a jersey from current team it is hard not to get a Brady jersey (probably the only Patriot payer better at his respective position that Hannah was at his).  That said, Wilfork is a great call.  If I had to choose, I'd probably go with Wilfork over Brady because I don't think I could wear a QB jersey. I played line high school and have always played D in all the other team sports I played, so I have an irrational dislike for the "glory" positions in most sports.

NFLShop.com has the white sideline jackets as a special order, listed as "shipping no later than March 10".  They're straight out of stock on Nike.com and going at a premium on eBay.

Depends on how much you want to spend. $50 for the replica or a bunch more for a more authentic one? If you spend more on it you'll probably want a player that will retire a Patriot. I got a real nice Bruschi jersey years ago. I feel like I can wear it for life and it won't be a problem.

Thanks for the heads-up - just snagged one. 10% off with a new account.

Probably the cheaper route, to be honest.

Huh. I guess I owe a "Dibiase was in the nWo" entry in the "Things you only learned recently" thread. Thanks for the link, I obviously never saw the original. The others were easy (love Belichick with the 24-inch pythons and the literal Hulk hands), but I guessed wrong on Kraft.

I get your motives behind this but I think it's okay to get the jersey regardless of whether he gets extended or not. This team doesn't win the Super Bowl without him and even if he's gone after this year or next, he'll always be a major part of the 4th Lombardi and I think you could still wear the jersey even if he's suiting up for another team. It's the same reason I have a Dave Roberts jersey that I wear frequently.

I won an authentic Brady jersey at half time last night. Question is, do I get a SB patch (sew on, not iron on) or keep it as is and maybe get another jersey from the SB? THE TB 12 jersey is red if it matters.

I would just keep the one you got and leave it alone.

Not a fan of these, "Wicked 4th" shirts/hoodies/etc.

But... all the third party ones are apparently fakes.

Anyone knows of an independent sports apparel store in Boston that might have one? Looks sold out at most of the major retailers.
It's been sold out everywhere since November. Apparently New Era did not consider the possibility of a perineal contender from a cold weather city making a deep run into playoffs that wouldn't end until February. Good job. Good effort.

This was also the case last year. We got one for my grandfather for Christmas early in November '13, and by December they were selling on eBay for $100+.

I live in LA now so these are kind of pointless for me, but they seem to be a hot ticket going forward.

Some SOSH artist should make a "Piss on Their Ashes" shirt.  I'd buy that one.

They are rushing out everything right now but if you can wait a few weeks they will discount fairly steeply believing that they missed the rush. 6 weeks after the 2004 win I ran across superbowl hats at a local sporting goods store at 75% off, a few even made it to 90%. I bought at least 10 and gave them out to friends.

For those of us who may have foolishly purchased a Darius Butler jersey, let's just say they are back in vogue.

...And the corruption of the English language continues....

Somehow "schwag" (crappy weed) has replaced SWAG (an acronym for Stuff We All Get, meaning giveaways and the like) as the word of choice for hat-and-shirt-game hats and shirts....

Meanwhile, SWAG now means swagger.

If it weren't for Butler I'd be vomiting right now.

I'm gonna go smoke some swagg, I guess.

What the hell does "Wicked Fourth" mean?

Both words make sense by themselves, but I don't know why they are together.

I'll probably get myself a Revis jersey if he signs a contract that justifies it this off season. Three years is the minimum, I feel.

If not, then I'll go without. I already splurged on the T-Shirt that is featured prominently there.

Just bought a SB champ shirt (a modest navy blue one) and some beer bottle coolers, along with a regular polo that was on sale, as well as a regular hat.  Picked up a TB and Gronk OYO SB figures for the little one as well.  Nothing too fancy, but it's nice to finally be able to buy some new SB gear.  Still trying to talk the wife into getting me a Gronk SB jersey...

I know the Barstool stuff is a little bro-tastic, but the Pats haven't lost since I've started wearing my "University of Belichick" t-shirt... just sayin'...  Got lots of amusing looks in Glendale.

Also, non-Super Bowl specific, but the "Air Wilfork" t-shirts are well-designed too.

Cross-posting from the Underrated SB moments thread, because this is where this should be.

What is your favorite in-game image from the Superbowl and/or this playoff run? For the Sox' 2013 WS, I bought a beautiful print of Papi, Taco, and Xander signaling 'safe' as Gomes slid home and got it framed - it's wonderful. This championship run deserves an equivalent homage. There are 2 obvious moments that jump to mind, Edelman to 'Dola and Butler with the INT, but I'm open to others. More importantly, if someone could point me to a website where you view high quality images, that would be great. Thanks.

That's a false etymology. "Swag" in the sense of free stuff first appeared in print in 1961. Easy enough to see how it transitioned from the sense of "loot" (which is a long established use of the word) to "free stuff". Also very few English words started as acronyms (laser and sonar being among the rare exceptions).

Here's a history of the word "swag", which points out that the NYT had to issue a correction about that "stuff we all get" acronym. It also notes that "schwag" came into usage in the 1990s. http://nancyfriedman.typepad.com/away_with_words/2011/09/swag-and-schwag.html

I'm waiting for that SI Commemorative Memorial hardcover. I've had one of every Boston team since 2001's Patriots. Those things are neaaaat.

Maybe someone here can settle a debate I have been having with some friends.

What does the Patriots Leather Jacket crowd do now?  Buy a new leather jacket with patches for all four superbowls or try to attached a new patch to the existing jacket?

This was me at PHX yesterday morning (after unnecessarily heeding the airport's advice to give myself at least three hours) with time to kill and stoned from euphoria and lack of sleep after the game:

Bought the hat, the shirt, the official Super Bowl stuffed monkey for my eldest kid (yes, it exists), the coffee mug, and three copies of the commemorative Arizona Republic newspaper cover they had on the field after they won. This is my office door right now:

Bought a Wilfork Super Bowl jersey. Been meaning to buy a Vince jersey for a few years and decided id like one with the patch. I'll get the hat and a shirt later this week. I'll have to get a commemorative book at some point and the DVD.

Good call. I've finally decided on a blue Revis with a patch (white is a PITA to keep clean) and I'll certainly be getting the DVD. After that a book would be nice.
