While we are all still dreaming - what is the optimal succession plan to Brady? For me it is Brady for 2-3 more years, then the Pats find a way to acquire Rodgers for 3-4 years (maybe 1 of which is BB-coached)... what you got?
Something like that would work great.Yeah, I think you start the process now with the draft. Or maybe it's a simple matter of trading for Josh Rosen, if Arizona really wants Kyler Murray. Assuming the Pats think highly of Rosen.
Why not? He’s already fed up at this point. Come 2021 he’ll have been to 1 SB in his career.Ha. Rodgers is not walking through that door.
I think you need to draft a QB this year. And next year, and possibly the year after that, until you find someone you feel good about.
The truth hurtsPlus, this is why people hate Patriots fans. "Maybe our 41 year old QB who just went to 3 straight super bowls will play another 2-3 years then we can just take on the other top QB because surely he'll want to come here to win!"
I've thought this too. Probably as a way to cope with TB's looming retirement as Rodgers could conceivably offer, say, 2 more years and extend the window of drafting a good young QB. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility. We know Rodgers is unhappy, BB is fascinating to a lot of players and as tim4wins notes, his contract's up in a couple of years. He'll probably sign an extension soon and all this will be moot, but until he does, it's a semi-reasonable short term plan. While we are all still dreaming - what is the optimal succession plan to Brady? Everyone else, the cliff has been very very steep. Brady's defied the odds so far but Time is going to win in the end. Comparatively speaking Brady had a mediocre year but that's with the new rules where all QBs are seeing their stats inflated. Maybe they can live with a mediocre Brady with a strong running game.Something like that would work great.
I'm glad that most rational people have seen that Brady still has it. Of course he could fall apart like the Blues Brothers car, but it doesn't seem likely anymore. We don't need the top guy coming out of this year's draft.
Look how hard it's been for Denver to find the replacement for Peyton. It really is difficult.Everyone else, the cliff has been very very steep. Next year's QB class is going to be deep. Maybe not shallow, but deep. That is when I think they should strike in the first round but identifying the right guy is going to be hard.
Well this postseason run indicates that the Patriots have already done much of this.take it from me u need to pick a QB high for these next 3 drafts or 20 and 21
only sign brady to a 2-year ex up after 2021
beg bill to coach for as long as he can
while brady is there trastion to a run first short passing game i e 2001 2003 or last 3 games of 18
or build a ravens 2000 broncos 2015 type of def
Is it? According to overthecap.com Rodgers is signed through 2023. But let's assume, the contract is up on in a couple years as you say, GB could still tag him. They only way they let him go is if he's declined.it's a semi-reasonable short term plan
Belichick is gonna Belichick. What sounds more like him--Drafting a first round quarterback or spending a conditional fourth on last year's (maybe year before's) first round quarterback, who maybe just didn't mesh with whatever dumbass organization picked a QB top ten AGAIN?Everyone else, the cliff has been very very steep. This sounds totally believable. I bet Belichick's Cleveland players probably think some of the same stuff about him. "We could tell he was smart, but he stepped on his dick a lot".why i am so down on McD he might work for U but DJ Willins ex broncos lb said this
“It’s like taking a course in school—it all depends on the teacher,” Williams recently said on a BSN Denver podcast. “It could be the easiest class or the hardest class. If this professor wants to give you pop quizzes randomly and essays, this is going to be the hardest class. If your professor is that professor that says, ‘Hey, we’re going to give a quiz on Friday, we’re going to talk about the subjects on Wednesday and Thursday,’ it’s smooth. Josh was the type of guy that, to me, made football tougher than it had to be.”
Williams also said the team’s “fun” with McDaniels was scripted, taking away from its funness. Williams was not solely critical, though, saying that McDaniels will likely go on to become a head coach again, a better one after learning from his mistakes.
“[Bill] Belichick seems kind of standoffish, but a lot of guys that I know that played with him, when [they’re] one-on-one with him, he’s relatable—you can talk to him,” Williams said of McDaniels’ mentor. “I don’t think Josh McDaniels [had] learned that yet, Josh got all the knowledge and came here with all the knowledge. That’s why we were successful in the beginning and won those games, but when it hit the fan and things got tough, guys didn’t want to go the extra mile for him.” broncos wire said this
josh gave denver a great 2010 draft class that was key in 13 and 15 but he butched the 2009 draft class when denver couild had RB L Mccoy LB C Matthaws and S E Thomas in 2010
