I can't stand his ESPN personality, but after that article, I can't help but admire him as a man and father.

It's amazing he has the drive and energy to do all those MMA / crosstraining workouts with the chemo.  Also thought his comments about not wanting to know what stage he's in were really interesting.  He's a real fighter.  Go get em Stu!

That was an excellent story. I've never enjoyed watching him on TV, but I admire how he is fighting his cancer.

May he live to walk both of his daughters down the aisle and be a grandfather.

His youngest daughter is 14 and they live local to Bristol. He could accomplish this in the next year.

Nip, thanks for posting the article. A good read as well as a reminder that there are actual human beings attached to images that appear on our TV screens. Loved the Arthur Ashe quote, "Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can." A reminder of how we can face the most difficult and complex issues in the most simple way. Now I feel like a turd for picking the guy in my SOSH Death pool, but that feeling will eventually pass.

He got the Jimmy V award at the ESPYs last night.  Here's the link to his speech, which I felt was very good outside a couple of forced jokes.  Note that it may make you tear up a little so careful where you watch it.

This is hitting very close to home for me.  I was diagnosed with cancer on Sunday.  It was a huge shock to me.

I am lucky to be at Johns Hopkins Hospital, apparently where Scott's been treated.  I probably will be discharged tomorrow with outpatient treatment starting next week.

Stuart Scott is an inspiration to me and I am not going to give up.

Sucks to hear that man.  What version of cancer do you have?

They are still doing tests to determine what is the main source, but it is probably esophagal that has spread to other areas based in several MRIs I have had.. I had the biopsy yesterday and the pathology results will come in the next few days for a more definite determination of exactly what type of cancer I am dealing with.

So, I will be getting treatment in different areas.  I am going to stay positive and get whatever treatment is necessary.

Many are wishing their best for you, you don't need to hear it but stay strong and fight fight fight.

edit:  that speech was incredible, made me feel like I'm not even close to doing enough in my life to help others

Kick cancer's ass!  A day doesn't pass without me interacting with a cancer survivor among work, friends, and family - it's amazing and an ongoing improvement from past generations.  Stay strong and best of luck in your battle, Boo.

Hey, I just wanted to let everyone that posted kind words to me back in July know that I am doing well.   I had radiation treatment back in August and received results in October that were very good.  No more radiation needed at this time.

My first chemotherapy program was really tough and, unfortunately, did not result in any significant progress.  As a result, I switched to a different program in September.  The new program has significantly less side effects so I feel much, much better on a daily basis.   More importantly, new drugs are working.  I'll be on the same program for a least a couple more months, but I am very thankful for the direction I am going.

Cancer sucks, but I am getting through it.
