Hey, I just wanted to let everyone that posted kind words to me back in July know that I am doing well.   I had radiation treatment back in August and received results in October that were very good.  No more radiation needed at this time.

My first chemotherapy program was really tough and, unfortunately, did not result in any significant progress.  As a result, I switched to a different program in September.  The new program has significantly less side effects so I feel much, much better on a daily basis.   More importantly, new drugs are working.  I'll be on the same program for a least a couple more months, but I am very thankful for the direction I am going.

Cancer sucks, but I am getting through it.
Hearing about anyone kicking cancer's ass is awesome.  Congratulations!

Yet another thing you're better at than Stuart Scott.  Like driving at night.

I know he was a pain in the ass as an anchor, but he was a brilliant human being and I can only hope to face death with as much grace and humility as Stuart did.

Rich Eisen with a very moving announcement/tribute on NFL Network just now. Stuart was his first SS partner and he, like many, very emotional.

Edit: Mauf beat me to it.

I choose to flash back to how I used to feel about Scott when I was a kid watching Sportscenter over and over again - back then, he was original, fresh, and funny (at least to me). In retrospect, it's hard to blame him for his shtick eventually growing a bit tiresome - that's a long time to stay relevant doing one thing. He seemed like a great guy and I'm surprised how sad I am about this. RIP Stu.

I'm surprised how hard this hit me. Our family got cable in 94, and as a sports fanatic I loved watching sportscenter. Scott, Eisen, and Van Pelt were my favorites. I loved all of Scotts sayings, and used to quote him at school all the time. Sure, after several years "BOOYAH" wasn't as funny anymore, but I will always remember how exciting he made highlights for me. I watched the prepared tribute to Scott that ESPN had prepared in advance for this, and it was really moving. I feel for his two daughters this morning who lost their dad.

I got to know Scott a little bit, his eldest daughter and my son went to the same HS. (Small school, you get to know the other parents) Hugely supportive, very social and completely unassuming. Damn shame...

Fucking hell, that Eisen clip is brutal.
There's more. That starts in the middle.

The segue was just brutal. Sapp and Irvin had just finished a bit on Suh, laughing and having fun on the set. Eisen speaks in during a quiet moment and says , "Guys, I'm going to moment here..." He had learned about 10 minutes ago, but I'm not sure if anyone else knew when he broke in.

I was watching the sport center tribute at the gym. It always creeps me out when they have those ready to go with everyone talking in past tense.

It was very well done though. I hated Stuart Scott for a long time and mocked him but very sad. He was a huge part of sports culture.

So shitty. Many of us grew up with Scott as the voice of ESPN.

RIP and bless his family.

This is really tough to stomach. I really grew up with his commentary--a lot of the sports moments that helped to define my childhood were accompanied by his commentary. Even at his corniest, he was never mean or insufferable in the manner of so many talking heads in sports, and by all accounts he was a genuinely good guy off set. The fact that he goes in his prime and leaves behind both his daughters and his parents is just fucked.

I got sick of Stuart Scott's schtick a long time ago, but I always respected the hell out of him and his struggle with his illness. I greatly admired his tenacity and drive to battle his cancer.

The news of his death has hit me a lot harder than I expected, and I am deeply and thoroughly saddened by the news of his passing.

Jesus, maybe it's just from watching the Eisen clip but this was a much bigger gutpunch than I would have expected. Whether you admit it or not, anyone here who is now 25-30 or thereabouts grew up on this dude and thought he was the shit and that Sportscenter was the pinnacle of television achievement. And as many have alluded to, he wasn't an asshole on a network that now churns them out by the hour.

Like most here I grew up watching him back when SC showed highlights. With no internet he gave millions highlights in a fresh way. Sure it got old, but so does everything.

Too young, too soon and too often cancer steals lives. Prayers to his family and friends.

Unfair. The guy lived like a champion though, and you know he lived every day to its fullest. He may have died young, but he didn't die empty.

RIP. Hard to watch that Eisen clip without tearing up, very nicely said.

Yah, like many, that hit me. It's the shame of it really. No one deserves to die at 49, especially after a 7 year battle with cancer. RIP.
