The box score for today's Fenway matchup with the MFY's is corrupted. All we get from the Strat-O-Matic folks is this:

The Red Sox scored 6 runs off Masahiro Tanaka in the 3rd inning to help beat the Yankees 8-6. Kevin Pillar and Andrew Benintendi each had 3 hits for the Sox.

Damn. We beat the MFY's again. Martin Perez is f'ing MASTERFUL, and Austin Bryce, Heath Hembree and Colton Brewer hold down the fort for the win.

We're 7 games under .500, 3.5 behind the MFY's and 1.5 up over the Jays. (We're 12 behind Tampa.)

This would have been the Sunday night game-o-the-week. In normal times, it would have been an absolutely beautiful night for a game, even with our shitty 2020 team.

Thanks for posting the links on the games. I enjoy even play-baseball right now. I also have a question. I am just curious, but does Stat-o-matic have a page with everyone's stats on it?

I think you can navigate to what you're looking for from this page.

For what it's worth, Baseball Reference is also doing a simulated season, but with the Out of the Park game. The Sox aren't doing any better in their version, but in B-Ref fashion, they have a ton of stats in a much more user friendly format than Strat-o-matic.

In the B-Ref season, the top OPS guys for the Sox are Bogaerts, Devers, Moreland, and JBJ. Jeter Downs has been called up and hit well in 6 games as well. Neither simulation seems to like JD Martinez all that much, which I find strange.

Some weird differences between the B-Ref version and S-O-M;

B-Ref has Collin McHugh starting 12 games for us already, and Martin Perez used completely out of the pen. Weird.
B-Ref is a LOT more Moreland friendly.
B-Ref is using Barnes as the closer, not Workman.
B-Ref is WAY down on Eovaldi and Ryan Weber.
Finally, B-Ref has Cesar Puello with 57 plate appearances already. That's an ugly compromise waiting for Alex Verdugo to be ready. (and if Verdugo wasn't ready, how was McHugh?)

Anyway, it's all just speculation. Bottom line, we would have been awful either way.

The silver lining I take away from this shitty simulated season is that most knowledgeable Red Sox fans assumed we'd be mediocre or worse this year, whereas if the MFY were only two games above .500 at this point in the season Yankees fans would be absolutely livid.

NY is doing much better in the BR simulated version linked above, but SEA is leading the AL West in that one, so it's pretty hard to take seriously even a tiny bit. Also the Dodgers are 56-18 in the BR one (!!!!).

The streak continues. Alex Verdugo homers in the bottom of the 17th to send the Fenway crowd home happy against the Cards. Here's who pitched for us. How many of these guys do you actually know?

Martin Perez
Brice
Hembree
Osich
Brewer
Workman
Barnes (he walked the bases loaded and gave up a run in the 11th. )
Brasier
Springs
Hart.

We pull a game ahead of Toronto as they lost to the Angels at the Rogers center. Hey- we're only 4.5 back in the wild card!

The streak lives. We beat Seattle in a rainy one at Fenway (the weather on the box score just said: bad) Eduardo goes 6 and only allows 1 unearned.

3 under .500 and 2 games behind the MFY's.

This is all they gave us today:

Eduardo Rodriguez gave the Red Sox 6 innings while allowing only 1 run as the Red Sox take down the Pirates 3-2.

The sim-Sox are going to get it rolling just in time for the season to be interrupted by real games. That's the kind of outcome that would be de rigueur for the franchise pre-2004.
Feels like Trot Nixon’s career.
He would always seem to get stupid hot, and then the All Star Break or an injury.
