One would have to think that Zappe will be better next week, not just from getting over 1st game jitters, but also being at home (no crowd noise). Plus with Hoyer's injury, the whole week can be spent crafting a game plan around Zappe's talents (which are different from Hoyer's) and getting Zappe a week of 1st string reps.

Hoyer is terrible. Do we not remember his performance in KC a couple of years ago? There’s no way you can say they win this game with him.
This. Hoyer is rancid Indian food wrapped in a dirty diaper. They do not win this game with him, period. Doesn’t mean Zappe is the next Johnny U, but no chance they win that game w Hoyer.

After watching the Seahawks run all over Detroit, I expect Harris/Stevenson to have huge workloads this Sunday as long as game script doesn’t get away from us.

Last night reminded me while Belichick will never tank. He believes "he can beat your'n with his'n and his'n with your'n," which is what Bum Phillips said about Bear Bryant. BB likes the challenge, and probably thinks pretty highly of his coaching abilities. And, yeah, rightly so.

May as well see what Zappe is made of next week. Realize that some posters here have an irrational hate for him, but he wasn't terrible today.
Can you explain that?

He was a 4th round pick and not expected to see the field at all this season... and some posters have irrational hate for him?

...how can anyone hate the third string QB?

Perhaps because they used a 4th rounder on a 3rd string QB (from a non P-5 school too, althogh you're right in another thread that that may not matter) when they had other holes combined with the starter's age and draft position.

Sure, but that's just standard Belichick stuff. I dunno. They drafted Stidham, Etling, Brissett, Jimmy G, Mallett, O'Connell, Cassel all while having Brady under contract. This is what BB does. Hate the drafter, not the pick?

Let's not discount the posters who hate him because he didn't come in and set the world on fire yesterday.

Yeah I don't get hating Zappe, it isn't his fault he was drafted by the Pats. No offense to Brian Hoyer but we know exactly what kind of player he is, and it isn't good. Maybe Zappe develops into a serviceable backup or something. Or maybe not, but I'd rather see what happens with him than suffer through more Hoyer.

Yeah, why couldn't that rookie thrust into playing have done better than a 107.4 passer rating?
