That should make his influencer wife happy to make the move to Vegas to advance her influencing.

I'm honestly shocked they even salvaged a pick swap out of it. Seems like Hoyer is entrenched as the vet / #2 and then they'd rather give Zappe the spring / summer QB3 snaps.

Now can we trade N"Keal and that sixth back to them for the seventh? I'm barely kidding because N'Keal does have guaranteed money,

LOL ... I was thinking Harry and a fifth to some team for a sixth, since he hates fifths anyway

No surprise. It hadn't worked out for Stidham here, and moving on to finding a new rookie backup to groom makes a lot of sense.

i'd be fascinated to see a complete post-mortem on Stidham's time with the Pats. I really thought his play style fit the Pats, and he had some nice flashes in that first pre-season (I think he may have had a 40 yard or so TD pass to the late Demaryius Thomas if I am remembering correctly). But clearly he just never progressed.

I wonder what happened when Brady left, the job was his for the taking. He must not have worked at the level expected of a Pats QB.

I think the die was cast when Cam was here and playing horribly, and we kept waiting and waiting for them to announce Stidham would start, and it never happened. He must have been beyond awful in practice not to even get a sniff of starting despite Cam's poor season.

If he was truly beyond awful, why would McDaniels want to trade for him?

Raiders needed someone to replace Nathan Peterman. Tough to say if this is an upgrade

I'd resist the temptation to read much into his lack of playing time with the Pats. Another way of looking at him never getting in during the Cam experiment was that playing Stidham would have been a kind of admission of failure and throwing in the towel with Newton.

Who knows? Right now, given the evidence in front of us, I'd lean on the idea that he does some things well and McDaniels liked him all along.

We do know from earlier comments by Belichick and others that the Pats feel that they hope rookies make their big leap between their first and second seasons. And by all third hand accounts, that didn't happen. The confounder is that the 2020 offseason activities were all cancelled by CoVid, and even training camp was a bit truncated. But none of the press reports had Stidham outplaying Cam in preseason; in fact, Stidham was demoted to 3rd string QB behind Brian Hoyer. Then Stidham was injured all last season.

To be fair to Stidham, he's not had much opportunity. He also didn't seize the opportunity in the few chances he got. So, it's understandable why Belichick decided it was time to move on, and why McDaniels was willing to give him an opportunity, given the roster situation for both teams.

Look; it’s important to influence, especially when you are an influencer. If you want to be influential, as the wife of a backup NFL quarterback in New England, Las Vegas offers WAY more opportunities to influence, because in Las Vegas, the quarterback situation is such that your husband will be I’LL COME IN AGAIN

What I find interesting is that McDainiels wanted him. Maybe just a "knows his system" backup?

Had no idea Peterman was still around. He has 135 career pass attempts in the NFL... and an eye-popping 12 interceptions (8.9%). Stidham is a little bit like him in that regard: 4 picks in 48 attempts (8.3%).

12 isn’t terrible given that 5 were in his first half of play
