Great 4 years for the Bolts. Coming back from the 1st round sweep embarrassment in 2019 to get tougher and put together a hell of a run. Just petered out against a deserving Colorado team. A few bounces go the other way and they might have stolen it, but can’t really argue with the outcome.

Nazem Kadri: “…anyone that thought I was a liability can kiss my ass!”
The guy was key for the run and is a really good player when his head is on straight, but he was a liability for two straight seasons with the Leafs, potentially costing his team the ability to advance in the playoffs, and then got suspended again in his first playoffs with the Avs (if I am remembering correctly).

Oh, you are. That was a direct quote from him to David Amber and Elliotte Friedman.

Another fun fact: the Bruins were this year’s “virus team” (lost to Carolina, who lost to the Rangers, who lost to TB, who lost to Colorado).

Props to the Avs. They were the better team by some distance, and I think it says something that Tampa took 2 games off them without a healthy Point. Very likeable team. Mac, Makar, Landeskog, and Rantanen is terrifying.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the Bolts next year--they only have Palat, Paul, and Rutta coming off the books, but if I'm reading Capfriendly correctly, they're $2M over the cap. Not sure what mechanisms are available to get under. Killorn was horrendous this playoffs, not getting a single goal and only 4 assists. Not good value for $4.5M. McDonagh at over $6.5M for 4 seasons also looks pretty gross IMO.

The Hagel trade better pay off in a big way, otherwise that one will look even worse over time. The Bolts sent 2 (!) first rounders to Chicago, and Hagel was OK but not at all a difference maker in the postseason. They'll have him for peanuts for 2 more seasons before he becomes a RFA.

The ginger Cup guy (not Phil, the less famous one), that was a toupee, right?

Also cool that Landeskog and MacKinnon have reverse numbers.

well... that ring was going to have to get engraved anyways... doubt they make the engraver use the entire cup when engraving (guessing they remove the ring for the engraving)... little extra work won't hurt... lol
They do. Here's a picture of Louise doing her job.

I think it was just a couple of years ago that they retired the top band and added the new bottom band, so it should only have a few team names on it at this point if they needed to redo it.

Minor Bruins connection: Craig Billington is the Avs assistant GM and got to lift the Cup on the ice with the other front office staff. I was watching the coverage and thought one of the guys in suits lifting the Cup looked familiar.
