I was just making a callback to that issue.Yeah, the wrestling team was never caught up in that nonsense to my knowledge. Sailing was the big offender.
It’s the changing of minds that surprises me. People like ADs at Stanford or W&M typically are used to being in charge and making decisions and not being second guessed. I’m pleasantly surprised that while they did dig in their heels after organizations like Keep Stanford Wrestling raised enough money to blow a hole in the “we can’t afford it” argument, they ultimately backed down on a pretty bullshit decision. I have low expectations about such people being reasonable.William and Mary also reinstated 7 sports that they had slated to cut. They announced it a while back, but it's good see that people will change their minds

Do you know what happened with swimming and men's crew? Both axed long term coaches (the rowing team firing a pretty sucessful long term head coach, men's swimming a long term assistant/short term head coach who had the team performing not so well) midseason around the time varsity blues internal investigation was being done. (Like they literally changed the locks on the boat house).Yeah, the wrestling team was never caught up in that nonsense to my knowledge. Sailing was the big offender.
W&M was facing a full blown mob, as the supporters of the cut sports found what would otherwise be unlikely allies who hated the Athletic Director for unrelated reasons. So I guess I'm unconvinced that minds were really changed and more like the President decided to cut her losses before she got pulled down with the AD, but we'll see -- I'm fascinated to see who the next AD is and what course they chart.William and Mary also reinstated 7 sports that they had slated to cut.
