I hate that midfield so much.  I really wish Tim would flip out Bentaleb, Chadli, and Sigurdsson for Dembele, Sandro, and Townsend
Well, supposedly Tim Sherwood punched a player after that match so... wish granted?

If that's true, maybe he can become the second Spurs manager this year to be fired immediately after losing to Liverpool.

I had a similar thought as the game wound down. Liverpool's--really Rodgers's, I guess--ability to exploit the opposing manager's mistakes is making them the club most likely to get the plug pulled by the opponent's chairman after the match.

Men In Blazers left us with the defining comment about Spurs this week:

"They set out to be slaughtered with a higher line than Vincent Tan's pants." - Rog Bennett

In less depressing news, ESPN is doing a 30/30 on Ossie Ardiles.

Of course, it's how he left England during the Fauklands War, but that is less depressing than Timmy's HotShers

So, the sitting in the stands thing...honest self-assessment of his own potential to Pardew someone in the heat of the moment or "having a good look at it"?

I'm sorry but its weird.

Loris with a devastating mistake early against Sunderland. He fields a throw in on the far side with a terrible short pass, which goes right over to Sunderland, who sling into the middle and finish in front of a wide-open net while Loris sprints back to his line. Awful.

How many goals have Spurs conceded from comically idiotic individual howlers this year?  It has to be at least 7 or 8.

Eriksen has finally been given the free role he's needed for weeks and is just tearing Sunderland apart.  He's nominally playing on the left but he's drifting all over the place linking everything together and Sunderland can't deal with him.  He and Adebayor have been the lone bright spots this season.

Spurs are beating Fulham 3-1 today.  If they hold on and then win their last three games, which is plausible with their fixtures (@STK, @WHM, Villa), they'll finish with 72 points, the same amount they had last year.  What a strange season.

All I know is that I hate this team less than I did on Monday.  That's a victory for me, really.

They said on the broadcast today that the Spurs have not lost a game from a winning position all season. I would guess that's correct since they said it, but man, it just does not seem true.

Sandro left out off the lineup. Tweets before the game "I'm not injured"...
Sherwood postgame: "he's not good enough."
Shitshow.

Sherwood said that Sandro isn't good enough to play in the midfield?

Our best midfield is some combination of Sandro, Eriksen, Dembele, Lennon, and Paulinho.  Like, without a doubt.

I'm guessing Sherwood won't be going back to his former role when this season is over.

To be fair this is what was said:

"Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood discussing a Tweet from Sandro (see 12:09 entry) explaining that he had been dropped and was not injured:"He's entitled to do what he wants. He's right, he's not injured. He's not good enough to play in my team at the moment and when I think that he is good enough he will play.
"I don't care about reputation. I like Sandro as a kid. He has got qualities but I am picking people ahead of him.""

It sounds like he's sending a message to train better.

Can we just talk about how fucking awesome Ericksen is?

Is Kane pretty much guaranteeing that Soldado heads back to Spain for about half of what they paid for him? I like Bobby Solider and want to see him stick around, but doesn't Kane's run of success doom his future with Spurs?

Actually, Kane's run of success might doom Kane's future with Spurs :)

The Guardian says the Spurs might go after Welbeck this summer.

Yup. At 91'. And they're still trailing 2-nil.

Adios, Timmy. Your strange ways will be missed in a strange way. At least you proved to be the Adebayor Whisperer, which is something, I guess.

The David Moyes rumors make a lot of sense for youse guys - right? Seems like the personnel would fit his system and so would the gameday philosophies.

I don't know...Spurs' ambitions seem a lot higher than what Moyes has shown himself capable of delivering. I bet they look abroad.

I'd think he's a better fit for West Ham at the moment. They seem to think of themselves as deserving at least mid-table, and their resources are limited until they move to the Olympic Stadium.

So 5th place and equalling last year's point total are now both out of play.

If Spurs get a point vs. Villa at the Lane or Man U drops any points against Hull (at OT) and Southampton (on the road) Spurs are locked into 6th place and Europa awesomeness next year.
