I just see the stat line, you're saying his command wasn't great, numbers or no?
He still walked three in four innings and fell behind batters routinely, but he was dramatically better in the third and fourth. I was encouraged overall, but it was a turbulent beginning for him-- from what the radio broadcast sounded like anyways.

Johnny Damon trying to make bail?

Missed his part of the game. Did Richards get lucky with loud outs, or was it just command?
It was only on radio so I have to trust Bradfo and Flemming, but it was really just command, especially of the fastball during the first few innings. He has a habit of not getting strike one so far during the spring, but it was a hugely encouraging outing on the whole.

Really worried about the outfield defense. Probably going to be this exact outfield (Gonzalez-Renfroe-Verdugo) on Opening Day. Cordero, delayed by his COVID list, I guess is ready in mid-April, but he's not a defensive wizard or anything. Duran is below average out there currently.

All this mixing and matching of parts can work to an extent of being a bit better than the sum of their parts, but there are going to be some quirky Fenway hits that Beni, JBJ and Mookie would have prevented the extra base on, or got an outfield assist on a great play, that this group is going to give up that extra base on.

Outfield continuity is just so important at Fenway, and that has been completely lost as the outfield now completely turns over. It's going to be rocky.

Anyone else have issues with the NESN app on a RokuTV? I click “watch now” and nothing happens (confirmed logged in etc)...

Perez looking sharp in the first, despite the results of a grounder that sneaked through, and he got squeezed on a few pitches for that last walk.

Josh Ockimey with a 3-run shot in the 8th to give the Sox the lead!

Gossett blows the save by allowing the tying run in the 8th, then the game is called as a tie.

Mostly here for the analysis and my entertainment but this is bloody brilliant. I love words and this is as clever as it gets. I lived in New Orleans for years (down the street from Art Neville) and this is especially relevant. (RIP Art and Charles Neville).

Pivetta does a nice job getting around a leadoff double in the third, going fly out - strike out - strike out to strand the runner at third.

I haven't seen any games, just box-scores/highlights. I see that Dalbec has 2 hits so far today, both to right. I know his first few homers this Spring were also to right. I love seeing that from a young "masher" Being a game-thread, I'll speculate that he is working on seeing the ball a bit longer/ not selling out for the HR. If anyone has seen/read/heard anything about it, I'd love to know.

Sawamura hitting 96 on the FB apparently, but it looks very straight, so that slider had better have some horizontal movement.
