Bought two packs each of Hobby Topps Series 1 and 2, and I think I pulled a decent rare card--a "Shaped Sketch" card of Matt Chapman. I am trying to find details about it, but the Trading Card Database doesn't list the set in its 2021 Topps Baseball section.

Wow that’s super cool looking.

I saw stadium club is releasing Friday. I always liked the photos as a kid and it’s a relatively cheap. Do hobby stores generally get the product in advance and then they can sell on Friday (like video games)? Or they will be shipping to stores Friday?

I'm looking forward to the Stadium Club release, I think it's my personal favorite of the "normal people can afford this sets" with the great photography. Hoping Target does their blaster deal and I can grab a few.

Since it's an A, you should trade it for 3 card prospects to be named later and some cash considerations.

Very cool card. Congrats.

I have the entire 1986 Fleer set of 132 and the 11 stickers. Still waiting on my Jordan sticker grade (I think it's in better shape than the card, but who knows).

Other attic "finds" for rookies

Joe Montana
Wayne Gretzky

Some other cool ones I've found so far

Beautiful cards. Are you going to have the Rickey graded?

Right now the grading companies are so backed up that it only makes sense on the elite cards to pay the fee ($300 to grade the Jordan).

When they get up and running again, I will submit it.

My birthday was the other day and my wife made me take her to the card shop so she could buy me some cards to open. I wanted Bowman, but all they have was 72 count blasters (no Hobby, sadly). But then this happened:

DAYUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM

Plus it's good to see stuff like this. I wonder how long Donruss kept the 1989 and 1990 printing plates? Do they still have them? When they lost the IP rights, perhaps? At least a few years at a minimum

I've boiled my mess of cards down to some keepers and realized I'm 30 years behind the state of the art on card storage. I'm looking for advice on form factors and/or brands for the following, or for someone to talk me into a different approach.

- couple of albums, one to hold a nice looking but not particularly valuable set I have, another for some loosely related stuff. Each around 300 cards I'm guessing. What kind of binders/pages are good these days? I have some old ones but they are in rough shape.

- somewhere in the couple hundred range of semi rigid card holders, and some kind of box. Might x2 that if it works well

- few "nice" card holders. I have a couple of the old kind with screws, I think the tech has advanced.

Any advice is appreciated, just want to get them out of the old yellowing holders and ratty old boxes they are in now.

Supplies are in high demand and often difficult to find (or difficult to find at decent prices).

I can't help on the Albums/sheets, as I don't use them.

For toploaders, I usually go with the Ultra Pro "regular toploader", wherever I can find the best price. (Ultrapro.com > eBay > Amazon). Alternately, I recently bought some 55 point toploaders from hfhobby.com, and I like them a lot. They fit chrome cards a little better than the Ultra Pro. Expect to pay $0.28 - $0.30 per toploader, shipped for either brand.

Penny sleeves now seem to cost about 2 cents each. I use Beckett Sheild brand, and have had luck finding them in stock at beckett.com

For nice card holders, go with One Touch (the magnetic kind). I got mine on UltraPro.com and paid about $2.50 each (shipped). The 35 point size is perfect for non-relic cards.

For boxes, I've been using 3000 count 3 row cardboard boxes that I bought on eBay. (7 for $40). I also have this bad boy for whatever I'm currently ripping/sorting that I got from Amazon:

If you are in the market for any card stands, I print and sell them. My card Twitter is @breakingbald2, and I've got some pics of the design on my pinned tweet.

I can vouch for the card stands. They rock. Will take a pic when I have them set up in my office.

W/R/T to the Ohtani card posted above, I asked one buddy who’s pretty into cards and he thought it could be $500+. He suggested I bring it in to the card store and see what they think. Then starts the internal debate of selling for a profit or keeping something unique.

I use these for pages:

They drop to $18.99 from time to time. I've seen them anywhere from $18-30 at card shows.

But I need help with better/newer binders, too.

For those close to NH, I got the UltraPro version (they also had Beckett for same price) at a penny each (100/$1) at a store in Salem, NH. I'll try to find their business card/address. But right off the man thoroughfare, just east of 93, just north of the border.

I was in the area to buy a $28 foam inside hardcase that was recommended to me, in the hardware store in the area, to bring holdered cards to and from stores/shows

I really appreciate the info. It's a shame I closed my game store, I could have got Ultra-Pro stuff for 50% off retail when I was operating at volume and just charged myself sales tax.

Just saw the checklist for 2021 Bowman Sapphire. I’m sure they’ll sell out, but it feels like a “down year” for Sapphire just based on my once over of the checklist.

Anyone that stands out to anyone else? I might try and get a Blaze Jordan auto when they hit eBay.

The new version of the PE card stands. They look even better in person. 5 stars. Would recommend.

Target has Series 2, Heritage, Bowman, Absolute Baseball posted. I think they had Score Football? Not sure if they still do.
Thanks for the heads up, just grabbed a bunch. Only thing I was unable to get was the Bowman. And yes, they had Score Football so I grabbed a couple of those, as well.

I recant my previous statement. Had no idea that Blaze Jordan was like one of the top 3 hits in the Sapphire set. His autos are going for 4-600 bucks on eBay right now ungraded.

Thought he would be much cheaper for some reason.

There are many reasons Jordan should be cheaper than he currently is. The hobby loves him, though!

Yeah, the only thing I can see on Blaze is that people are really high on his power upside. Although, with the changes to pitching MLB is trying to make, it may only increase that upside for a guy like him.

Continuing to go through and review old cards and enter them into the database I am building and while I didn't buy cards from 02-21 like I did from 76-01, I have found cards from all 4 sports here and there.

Some are now busts (Trent Richardson rookies anyone?) but some are better than I thought. Found these two and luckily I sleeved and cased them when I opened the packs so they are in great shape.

However, how in the blue hell is a Harden rookie 3X that of a Steph rookie? That is crazy

Do we have any NBA card sharks in here?

Last night I got into an online break of 2021 Noir and lucked into a Lebron James Gold Frame, #5/11. I have no idea what it's worth but people on the stream were saying it's at least 2K. Anyone know if that's accurate? I've got two people asking if I'd sell it and I'm trying to get an idea of what it's worth. I couldn't find any comps from sales on Ebay.

A 2019/20 version sold in May for $476.99, but it was only graded an 8. https://www.ebay.com/itm/274804698012?hash=item3ffba2eb9c:g:LMkAAOSw47Fgpri9

A 2020/21 Giannis numbered 1/11 just sold for $502.00. https://www.ebay.com/itm/194225755719?hash=item2d38c1d647:g:GFQAAOSwajdg375f

I'd take anything I could over $1,000 for that, but who knows, the right auction at the right time, might bring more, but if I can get someone to pay me 1k for that, I'd probably take it. I'd seriously consider anything above $750.00.

Thanks. I hadn't seen the Giannis. There's a Luka gold frame /11 going for $500 on Ebay with 8 days left in the auction. I'm probably going to wait to see how that does before considering selling the LeBron. I feel like holding it for a while and waiting for him to do something special might be the better move.

Took the rest of my "junk wax era" stuff down to a flea market near my cousin, probably 20k cards or so after I picked the ones I'm keeping. Got offered peanuts for it, so I went to another, and neither guy there was buying. Went back to the first guy and ended up trading it all for a 1980 Rickey he had in the case.

Guy was a character, said he was going to look for sets of 3 of the same player and he sends them for autographs then puts them on Facebook to sell for $6-8 each.

Getting a Rickey, even if it's not in the best shape, got me thinking. If I wanted to buy a few singles of the mid-80s and earlier, cards I always liked but never had, would you suggest doing eBay now or wait until things cool off a bit? I'm in no rush, and I'm not buying as an investment, but don't want to burn money if I don't have to.

If I had that sort of crystal ball, I would have held onto the cards I sold 2-5 years ago, and waited until like 6 months ago. I'd probably be close to retiring now. I'm talking 7 figures worth of cards in today's market.

If you're looking for cards from the mid 80's to earlier, and don't care about grading/condition, there are plenty of cards you can buy that look just fine and will sell for next to nothing. If you want graded cards, once you head into that PSA 9 or 10 atmosphere, you're going to pay a fortune right now. I think the deals to be had are on PSA 7's and 8's.

I wish I could tell you now was the time to buy or wait. The card market goes through these ebbs and flows, and a lot the recent upturn was due to millions of people stuck in their homes, doing a bit of research and realizing there was money to be made. Whether the market has plateaued or will bottom out once folks head back to real life is another question entirely.

I'm not looking at it as an investment, so yeah 7 or 8 is great for me, even lower for older stuff. I have a '54 Bowman Willie Mays that I bought as a kid. It's probably in the 2-3 range (based on reading the PSA guidelines) but I'm just happy to look at it and have a piece of history with something like that.

Outside of favorite players with an interesting photo/design, I'm probably not looking for anything newer than what I have (ends in '92 or so), and that probably doesn't intersect very much with the hottest cards.

If anybody is looking for 60s, 70,s 80,s or 90's era Red Sox cards, send me your wish list. I might have the card. Name a player or specific card.

I think I have all the 65 Topps Red Sox, old school flag with green border, all in the 7-9 range. I might have most or all of the '68 Red Sox Topps cards too, brown border, Yaz, Foy, Andrews, Smith, Scott, Wyatt, etc. Some 66 and 67 too.

I also have the entire set -1 of the ARCO 8x10 collector's set all in excellent shape in screw down plastic holders.

Most of the cards are in pretty good shape, stored in loose leaf pages. I also have a bunch of auto cards as well as Upper Deck hockey and even some football from 80's-90's. Joe Thornton Bruins upper deck rookie anyone?

PM me with a card or player and an offer range and I will commence the search.

You pay shipping or postage to your comfort level, insurance, etc. 50% of your net price paid to me goes to the Jimmy Fund.
