Red Lava, Gold Prizm, and Orange #/25 (not the Orange Toile or the Orange Wave, which are both also numbered to 25). I'm sure one of those will show up again. That is the type of card you overpay for if you'll do it, when you know another one isn't coming along. Congrats!
So what's left, Red Lava, Gold Prizm, and what's the third head of the monster?
That's outstanding. Climb that mountain!So...I just paid way too much for the 2022 Topps Chrome Anniversary Yaz superfractor. I am now 3 cards short of one of the best rainbows in hobby history.
Ditto on this thread. I'd like to learn more about prewar... but as a hardcore set builder, I am fearful I'll never be satisfied and remain married LOLI love reading this thread every day and seeing the awesome pickups. It definitely gives me the itch to pick up some wants I have, but I have been saving for almost a year to go to the National this summer so I can go on a bit of a spree there. I've got some cool (to me) projects like playing day cards of the Black Sox and playing day cards of the 1903 Boston Americans entire roster (1st Sox world series winner). So please keep the stories and pictures coming.
Haha that's definitely a balance. I have to get over my frugalness and sticker shock of some of the prewar stuff. For example one thing I want to do is get a playing day card of the first hall of fame class. If you search around it can be done for 15k or less. Which isn't bad when you're talking about Cobb, Johnson, Ruth, Mathewson and WagnerThat's outstanding. Climb that mountain!

Thanks! Yeah, I didn't even make a lower offer at that price for fear of someone else sniping.ridiculous. Ebay tells me you got that superfractor for a sick price. a 1/1. jesus. I'm in awe. Congrats on that beautiful card.
That's great. I love that man.Got this beauty back from a signing today.
Bruce Bochte?I’m currently collecting all the flagship Topps/Donnruss/Fleer cards for Tito and Bochte. Have the complete sets for Sparky Anderson and Earl Weaver.
Zero interest in Larussa. I do have most of Torre’s player cards.
None of the cards are expensive or difficult to trade for, just an odd little obsession.
So I’m a little weird.
Exactly - my kind of market!Bruce Bochte?
Bought a Bochy rookie recently, I think it was less than a dollar!
Clever choice of date for that show. For anyone interested there's a show in Chicopee on Saturday. @413cardshow on X if you want to check it out.
Wonder if the show organizer is counting on Manny not cashing the check. Although I'm sure what Manny is getting is peanuts compared to Rickey.Pedro was just announced as signing at the National this year. He'll be there along with other Red Sox greats like Manny Ramirez, Rickey Henderson, and Bartolo Colon.
Doubtful. Manny doesn’t sign nearly as much as Rickey. From past signings, I’m guessing the price per auto (minimum, will only go up based on item) for Manny is $350, Rickey $150, and Pedro $200.Wonder if the show organizer is counting on Manny not cashing the check. Although I'm sure what Manny is getting is peanuts compared to Rickey.
some great stuff in here I have my eye on a few cards to start my projectsCame across this while perusing some NE online newspapers:
Babe Ruth, Cy Young and Batman: Rare baseball cards, comics up for auction for first time
The Cobb card is really cool; twelve pages of cards of some pretty cool cards.

I went to the show, it was packed! I only bought an '83 Lee Smith (for a friend) and some supplies. I went to try and sell my modern collection (with no luck). But it was all worth it to me because I got to see this:For anyone interested there's a show in Chicopee on Saturday. @413cardshow on X if you want to check it out.
What a story. And what a scumbag that seller is. People like him suck.If anyone wants a really fun Sportscard read, someone found this gem on the Blowout Forums to accompany this eBay listing

He also upped the eBay price from $500, presumably so no one will buy it for now - and yes it's worth the whole read, it gets better as it goes
Was it really a MLB ump? What a story. And what a scumbag that seller is. People like him suck.
I think we'll see a Brady auto scandal at some point. A friend of mine won a charity event item at the Pats Foundation dinner. Let's just say he spent well into the 5 figures, and it included an event for him and 10 guests,. each with a plus one. As part of that, the guests (myself included) received an autographed Brady jersey. So Brady had to sign a total of 10 jerseys. One of our friends, a couple years later, sent the jersey into PSA to get authenticated, spent hundreds for that, only to receive the jersey back saying the auto was not authentic. You know...I give a lot of grace for most athletes who sign because it's kind of a thankless business for many players they're asked to sign a lot of things for very little. Brady is taking several thousand per item per person, he can do better than that.
I'm actually kind of thinking he didn't sign them at all. Brady's auto is a bit sloppy but it's out there and that scribble looks nothing like that and his normal auto doesn't seem like a high effort one.
Was it really a MLB ump?

If it were me I might just bait the guy into buying it then send him the Vladdy Jr card. And by maybe I mean definitely. That's me (the guy who was scammed, not the umpire).
Edit to add: Yes, it's the MLB ump. And, yes, I raised the Buy It Now price to keep the listing active for a while, because I suspect Lew would love to buy the card for $500 to take the listing down, but he's probably not willing to go to $2727.27.
That would be poetic, but I'm sticking to public shaming for now. The psychopathic eBay listing is what finally attracted attention: https://www.reddit.com/r/baseballcards/comments/1cbmk9l/which_one_of_you_ebay_psychopaths_is_this/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_buttonIf it were me I might just bait the guy into buying it then send him the Vladdy Jr card. It's a fun rip, but there are better ways to light $200 on fire.Anyone open this year's Heritage yet? Is it crap or what? I was thinking of ordering a box or two.
Fucking SoSH, man. That's me (the guy who was scammed, not the umpire).
