I haven’t seen any of those amazing Topps update cards available as singles on eBay yet. Am I missing them?
I generally only buy singles. So I purchased on ebay. If you wait a few weeks prices will drop. I’m just impatient.
I think odds are the same between retail and hobby for short prints, I know they are more common in jumbos but everything are.
They just started appearing in stores so I expect a flood coming up.

It’s one of Topps B Sets but the Postcard insert design is sick and one of the few that also works as a box topper
Pulled this last year from a retail blaster (2021 Allen & Ginter - Framed Mini Auto). Bittersweet (hard to pull that insert, one of my best pulls ever, but would have wanted more popular player).

Is anyone going to the show this weekend at the Shriners in Wilmington? I'll probably be there earlyish tomorrow. Not looking for anything specific, but haven't been to a show in about 30 years (I think the last one was 1992 and Vinny Pazienza was signing autos).

If I weren't adopting a dog this weekend I'd probably cash in some proverbial chips to do it, but higher priotiies will take.
That Kaboom thing is wild....like it really doesn't look good with the recent Backyard discussion I'll say that and I'm not in the market for products that have Kabooms but that'd make me absolutely paranoid about buying a standalone box.

From what I've heard so far, there are a number of card shops that already knew about it. So yeah, definitely makes you think twice about buying something like that.
There's apparently a string of letters and numbers on the hologram based on the Sports Card Radio video that talks about the isuse.. Others in the comments say that this has happened with many other products snd SCR/LMS Box Breaks is not revealing the particular sequence but while SCR can get out over their skis IMO, it feels like a really far ledge to go off of to lie about it. Apparently if you watch several breaks where you see the stickers, you can find the pattern.
Cardsinfinity commented on the video and said this has been going on for about a decade and they started to cover sitckers/not show them and label the boxes themselves and make people hit a number. Another commented indicated that a different sticker code on a Topps product might indicate a substantial hit but it's less backed up. Another breaker brings back some products can be weighed.
I feel like the takeaway here is that if you're really going whale hunting to make sure your seller or breaker is on the up and up, and honestly even at retail I don't know how you do that or you buy into sealed case breaks which just seems prohibitively pricy. Tough sledding out there.
Man these companies are really screwing with the golden goose for no apparent reason. I could understand the need to identify boxes for packing hits but they could do it in a way so that this isn’t a problem. Ruining consumer confidence could turn a mole hill into a mountain very quickly.
Ok that show was pretty ridiculous in a "going to a museum" sense. Saw more 52 Mantles than I thought existed, along with tons of even older stuff (rows of Ruth, Cobb etc). The craziest being a full T206 set on display.
There were some booths advertising bulk buys or big percentage off but idk if they were actually good deals. Got a couple of low grade vintage cards at what I think were decent prices, but there was a lot more sticker shock high grade stuff on display.
Shot in the dark... and not sure if bartering is cool in here, but I'm looking to trade a '75 Brett Mini PSA 6 for an '87 Donruss #36 Maddux PSA 10, if anyone's interested? They're both selling for about $200 on eBay. Would also consider Topps baseball lot/starter set from '71, '72 or '73.

I’m seeing a closed auction on eBay for this card at $1899, and two open auctions at $1801 and $1700 respectively. All for ungraded cards.
So, as I’m in a mood to cash this in… do I bother getting this graded? Looks to me not to be perfectly centered (top border a little thinner than the bottom border?).
Any other advice? Just list on eBay or is there a better/safer way to go?

In my NOOB opinion, I'd sell immediately (ungraded, unless you're sure it's a 10) and maybe see what you can get in a private sale on Facebook Marketplace, or in the Blowout cards forum... before listing on eBay and paying the 12.9% fee.
As Julio's biggest SoSH fan, you could just ship it to me.

Go to a card show, ask for $1650 cash, look for a dealer who does both raw and graded who would want to take the grading cost risk/investment
Take $1500 if offered.
If you can’t get $1500, consider if you have enough other cards to send for grading at the same time (pretty sure it’s very inefficient to only send one card in)
Also consider doing grading on consignment of you can find someone you trust (only suggesting since you card is numbered)
This is always the best advice. I wouldn’t waste time/money on grading. All it takes is him getting hurt playing an offseason pick up basketball game and the value will plummet.
Probably depends on what he wants. The easiest "go-to" are blaster boxes, generally orderable from Target and other retailers. Contains 6-8 retail packs in an easy little box. The downside is retail carries only limited types of cards. An alternative is going to a hobby store where you can likely pick out single packs of a bunch of different stuff - pricier and you can't guarantee it's not picked through but you get more of a fun variety and you can customize it. The third alternative is ordering a whole retail or hobby box online - more packs and some products guarantee a "hit" (like a relic card or autograph) but it's pricier with less product variety.

I also have really enjoyed the Topps Update series, which is packed with rookies and has been very profitable for me (see post #1424 above). Not a lot of Red Sox in there, although the rare short-print cards of Pedro, Manny, Papi (also pictured above in this thread) are gorgeous if you get super lucky.

Allen and Ginter and Cosmic Chrome are up on Topps Website - I think Cosmic Chrome is a bit cheaper on there while you can save a few bucks on A&G on Ebay

LOL, a few months. I just got a redemption from Panini for a Frank Ntilikina RPA from Panini Noir in 2017. Randomly got an email from Panini last week saying they were shipping it. Got the card, they sent me a Mitch Ritchmond auto from 2012-13 Panini Momentum /25.
They probably have comparable value now, but had I gotten and sold the Ntilikina when it came out his rookie year, I probably would have gotten 5x's the value it is right now. The whole fucking redemption thing is a scam and I have no idea how they get away with it. Is there another industry in the world where you buy a product, and you open it and they essentially give you an IOU? And the IOU can be sent whenever the fuck they feel like it?

What is the purpose of redemptions in the first place? So they can put out product before it’s ready?
Players are contractually obligated to sign cards. Most often with Topps they miss their deadlines. Someone like Wander Franco had to have signed 1000s if not 10s of thousands of cards for Topps this year.
Sometimes players seem to catch up when they land on the DL.
That’s Topps at least. Panini seems to just be a dumpster fire posing as a card company.
Stadium Club was one of our first breaks and that really got me re-hooked on cards.
